Regarding Lizzy

I feel it is necessary to have the 'heavy metal' genre added, seeing as every traditional and proto-metal band has it on their respective pages. (See Led Zeppelin, KISS, Blue Oyster Cult and etc.) It wouldn't make sense to have Lizzy exempt from this really, also, they have some albums that are much more "metal" than any of those bands. --Ryouga 01:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. reverting me on indie hip hop and alternative hip hop

why'd you revert me setting this to a redirect? the article is original research, and is merely a synonym for underground hip hop.

As far as alternative hip hop, it has no meaning. It is essentially impossible to add any non-original content on. This is why the page is largely blank. Because its simply not capable of not being original research. You tell me to add stuff, but there is nothing to add to alternative hip hop, as it is merely a phrase and not a concrete genre. Sorry to revert your edit on this article, but that offensive name is (sadly) correct and well-sourced, with citations on IMDB and a blurb reprinted in the New York Times. While that doesn't prevent it from being a racist hoax of some kind, there would need to be some evidence to that effect.

if you look up Pop punk in wikipedia... you will see that not only does Rancid fall under the definition (as a band that is both pop and punk), but they are mentioned several times on the page. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. Thin Lizzy band members

Yo, I saw your revert to my edit. I understand the removal of the "classic" lineup, though I would say that it was a heavily undisputed claim (out of Lizzy's 12 albums it released 5 albums and a live album; the next longest discography released 3 albums, out of their 9 top 20 chart hits in the UK this lineup was responsible for 4 songs). Other than Brian Robertson, the lineup was stable throughout Lizzy's initial 1969-1984 run. Eric Bell played guitar 69-73, Robertson 74-78, Gary Moore 78-79, Snowy White 80-82 and John Sykes 82-83. Other than "Whiskey in the Jar" the band had no success with Bell whatsoever, and from 81-84 the band had no hit singles whatsoever.

But, if you DO consider that too POV for inclusion....listing the current lineup is not a problem! Look at bands like Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Van Halen...almost every band on Wiki has a lineup page, no matter how many configuration changes it has listed on seperate pages e.g. Van Halen Band Members or Black Sabbath Band Members. Thin Lizzy Genre

Hey, I get what you're saying about Lizzy not being a "blues band", and I did put that on the talk page for the Lizzy article, but it's pretty clear that they were heavily influenced by the blues and they have significant blues elements in their work, especially their earlier music, and some of Phil's own stuff. I believe they have just as much right to be in the "blues genre" as they do to be in the "heavy metal" genre, considering Lizzy managed to span quite a few different genres.
