Fumetti

Hey! I appreciate your cleaning up the fumetti page; I'm building on your work, cleaning out NPOV and OR. Anyway, I'm trying to get more sources for the page, and I noticed you added some valuable content. Do you have any links that you could provide so I can get this page better sourced? Thanks! Rmj12345 17:40, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing Fumetti ! I am not "up" on that topic by any means. Unfortunatley, I haven't any more links, I was actually drawing from my own childhood on that one. There were more cartoons like that though, for sure ... possibly the EARLY version of Space Ghost, but i'm just shootinmg in he dark now. As I am able to recall them, I will most definatley keep revisiting the page. exit2dos2000 04:19, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Stephen Stanko

Thanks for pointing out the lack of clarity in the article. Sometimes its hard to see that, when I know so much about the subject of the article and trying to only provide information that I have external source citations for. I forgot that the reader does not know the peices of the puzzle that tie it all together.  :) I hope my rewrite addresses the concerns. Thanks, Jerry lavoie 05:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Incidence Response Team

{{helpme}}

AfD/IRT shows that this page was previously deleted after a vote. If i wanted to rercreate it, tying it in with Unified command and Incident commander . Are there any special "hoops i need to jump" to be allowed to re-create a deleted page ? exit2dos2000 19:04, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Pages that are deleted via AfD and recreated, even under a different title, can be speedy deleted per criteria G4 (recreation of deleted material) if the recreated page is substantially identical to the originally deleted page. If you plan on addressing the original problem(s), you can ask the admin that deleted the article, Esteffect (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA), for a copy of the page to be created in your userspace to work on there, or you can take it to Deletion Review. I hope this helps. —XhantarTalk 19:20, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Privatemilitary links

[[1]] Agreed its conflict of interest but are they legit links to add and if so wouldn't a 3rd party just have to re add them. Thanks. --Xiahou 01:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

yes and a 3rd party agreeing and adding them back in is fine ... but the Mercenary article (that he also added them to) specifically states that Merc's are not Security Guards ... so why is he adding the links to both articles ? Exit2DOS2000TC 01:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

probably just linkspam to promote his site then. I would guess. Can't access that site while at work to check its credibility right now. --Xiahou 01:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

That is my fear, although I am open to anyone re-adding them with legit intent. But I would still play the devils advocate (angels advocate?) to have them removed. Security Guards are in no way a Military force, no matter how tough they would like to feel. Exit2DOS2000TC 01:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I actually started the wikiproject and have been trying to recruit social workers to edit these articles. Thanks again. Ursasapien (talk) 11:08, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Security Guard

I do not believe that security guards fall under the category of Law Enforcement as they do not enforce the law per se. Typically, security guards have little or no more authority that a regular citizen. A greater arguement could be made for the inclusion of correctional officers in the law enforcement category (in many jurisdictions, such as Canada, correctional officers are peace officers with many of the same powers as a police constables), yet Wikipedia moderators have deleted same from the category. If you feel that security guards qualify, I am happy to hear your arguements. --Jeff Johnston 23:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes. I noticed the greater arguement.(later PermLink'd) Please see Talk:Security guard Exit2DOS2000TC 08:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

And a permlink to what started it.

And I would like to know where exactly this conversation (mentioned in the Edit Summery) took place? Your starting to show a Pattern.

Dunk production

I was wondering if you would consider changing your vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dunk production in the light of [2] which shows that the author of the article ("SIRSPORKS4" on espn reversed to "Skropsris" on Wikipedia) is using the Wikipedia article to demonstrate on espn that the statistic exists, and using the epsn statements as justification in AfD. --Rumping 11:31, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks --Rumping 15:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments on this AfD. The result was to merge the two articles into the larger article on Sabac. If you wish to create a smaller article on education, in the future, please feel free to do so. Bearian 16:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Please provide a reason with your deletion.

There was no consensus from how the conversation was proceeding atWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sunset Center Mall as far as I can tell. Would you please expand upon "The result was Delete. Stifle (talk) 21:15, 11 October 2007 (UTC)" At the time of your closing, the conversation had spread across several (aprox. 9) Shopping Centre deletion requests, and the possibility of WP:Pointy AfD nominations had been raised. Was any of this considered? Exit2DOS2000TC 03:08, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Deletes outnumbered keeps by 2 to 1. I accessed the page directly from the list of admin backlog tasks and did not look at any other related pages. I am happy with this decision but you are entitled to a deletion review if you wish. Stifle (talk) 17:20, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
I believe you should count again. As it stands, that was no consensus. Exit2DOS2000TC 01:37, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Interesting names popping up on many of there Shopping |Centre/Mall AfD's? Do I sense an agenda? Had to chuckle at the notion of 3-2 is consensus in the Sunset Center Mall case. In the real world we'd call that the 'narrowest of majorities'. How does one report a duff decision to delete? (Sarah777 14:00, 14 October 2007 (UTC))

Deletion of Dublin Shopping Centre Articles

Please see Talk:Shopping in Dublin (Sarah777 20:38, 13 October 2007 (UTC))

Dublin shopping section may be neat & nice but City centres should be put into ONE article with centres in suburbs. --Balloholic 14:18, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Why? (Sarah777 14:44, 14 October 2007 (UTC))

I was talking to user Exit2DOS2000. --Balloholic 14:59, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

No, they should not be dumped into the Dublin Article. The Dublin shopping section talks about shopping in Dublin in general and makes reference to the individual, supporting Articles for each Retail shopping centre. Lumping all the Mall Articles into the Dublin shopping section would be incorrect handling of the Dublin Article, as then it would no longer be talking about Dublin, but instead the individual shopping centres within it. It would simply be cut out by any regular Editor of the Dublin Article, and rightly so. Exit2DOS2000TC 02:52, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I think they know that a large section on suburban shopping centres would not survive long in any City article. Hence this "merge" is really a "delete". Check out this edit by, guess who??!!(Sarah777 20:22, 15 October 2007 (UTC))

I was saying city centres shopping centres should be put with suburb centres into new Shopping centres in Dublin article. --Balloholic 21:04, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

LK shopping

The reason it was short was because I was waiting for the merge. --Balloholic 13:34, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Order of the Golden Lion

Dear Exit2DOS2000, you wrote: Another View According to The Netherlands, Queen Beatrix, whom states the origins of the Order in a presentation ceremony, the Order was founded in 1858 by King Willem III, who was Grand Duke of Luxembourg. FYI: I came across this Order via Military order that had the Order listed as English and founded in 1179. I have adjusted that page to reflect Queen Beatrix's information, but did not feel an agressive edit here would be productive. Although, I am very tempted to believe Queen Beatrix's information. Exit2DOS2000TC•• 03:11, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I fully agree with you that Queen Beatrix is speaking the truth, but then she is talking about her own Order of the Golden Lion! A House Order in the Netherlands that is an order of Luxemburg as well... There are a lot of lions in the jungle!

I am doubtfull whether an English "Order of the Lion" existed in 1179. It dissapeared from the list on Military Orders. I will look into it! Robert Prummel (talk) 16:11, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

in re: AfD Atlantic Terminal Mall

umm . . . I don't know how to put this "delicately", but after I stumbled over this (initially) unsigned delete tag, I went to look at who put it on. It is a wikipedian who's own article about Exploits Valley Mall was deleted. I could be way off base but the statement "if other similar mall articles have been deleted in the past, why should this one stay" may be referring to that. CyntWorkStuff (talk) 08:16, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

It dont surprise me in the least. The campaign agains Malls having Articles has got a lot of people very angry. I am not surprised someone nominated one of their own Articles, in a fit of rage, over the deletion of another one of their Mall Articles. Fight the Tide is all we can do. ps. good detective work Exit2DOS2000TC 10:02, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Why are people against (notable, of course) Malls having articles? They are an important business and social entity of the late 20th early 21st century. They are the market square of the age. I do believe familiarity and contempt have bred a blind spot. CyntWorkStuff (talk) 21:39, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Not saying that I know the awnser...but ... I think part of the answer shows itself in this AfD.
1 part familiarity
1 part small viewpoint
1 part not understanding what notability is. (and im not talking WP:N here either!)
Mix all a large tumbler , Shake, and serve chilled.
Cheers ... Exit2DOS2000TC 07:33, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

smashLAB AfD

Hi. I've addressed your concerns and given examples of why this article should be kept at this article's entry page. Although I'm not sure what your definition of "verifiable references" is, I'm assuming that you mean sources that can be found online (rather than in print like the ones I've provided). Regardless, I've found 3 of the 4 the articles referenced reprinted online and included links to them. I hope that satisfies them as verifiable. If you have any other concerns or suggestions, I'd much appreciate them. Thanks. - Petiep (talk) 17:20, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Transportation in Canada

There has been more prose added to the article Transportation in Canada, and some lists were converted to tables. If a paragraph per section could be made, IMHO, it may be soon ready to go to Good article nominations. The main problem according to the semi automatic peer reviewer was that lead should be expanded to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article. This is usually done near the end of the editing process. There should be a non-breaking space -   between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 31km, use 31 km, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 31 km as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (numbers). I tried to catch these aforementioned tweaks. It was an awesome subject, so I though I would try to help you out, as I had two books in the public domain pertaining to early Canadian history. I will try to peek in a bit more to assist! Good luck! SriMesh | talk 00:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Local PDs

Sorry if I came across a bit strong on Master of Medieval Studies' AfD. When I commented there I hadn't seen your rationale on Great Falls... which made your disagreement with me a bit clearer. I still think we'll tend to disagree on what's encyclopedic, but I see where you're coming from. To be honest, that's why I take them to AfD. I don't think they're NN enough to warrant a speedy, but I do think they're sufficiently NN to be deleted. And the backlog I'm currently tackling is items that have been tagged as such for 9 months. I've probably fixed 3/4 as many as I've nominated for AfD but some are truly beyond help. I don't think I'm that deletionist, but rather anti-fluff and anti "but it's been here for a year" to which my argument is, "and no one fixed it since then, Google doesn't have much so can it *be* fixed." Have a good day! Travellingcari (talk) 12:57, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I am not so much in disagreement with you as you migh be led to believe. Normally I would concur with the nominations. What I am in disagreement with is people bringing something to AfD and not providing a Specific Reason for it being deleted. In the 20some odd items you have brought to AfD, I have only commented specifically about the few where the Rational has been extreamly shaky and in some cases compleatly missing any reasoning. Please dont feel I am picking on you, I tend to do the same for any AfD where it seems that the nominators are 'Looking' for a reason from the !voters, instead of providing it to us. Exit2DOS2000TC 04:08, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  • 20 someodd? You must have only looked at this weekend ;) I've been a little deletionist lately, which surprised me because I'm normally for "how can we get this up to encyclopedic quality?" I think I've stumbled on a rash of articles that I can't find any reliable sources that cover them. While I don't disagree with your question on whether the PD owns the paper, I don't think a paper that's as tied to the small community as a PD is is independent either. Especially in the case of Gatlinburg, the article itself isn't even about the PD but rather a verbatim copy of the text that's already in the Gatlinburg article. Like everyone else here, I think we both want to generally improve the quality of Wikipedia content but in order to improve as a whole, I think some needs to go that isn't and isn't going to be encyclopedic. Anyway, that's a long ramble -- guess my point is how can I improve my AfDs? We've not seen head to head since Rockland Paramedic, so what should I do? I'm not asking as a way to get your vote -- you're entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine -- but rather I want to improve my nominations and better understand others. Some of the most fun I have comes from AfDs where a valid article appears. While I agree with all of those (you? I can't remember) who make the case that Afd is not clean up, but in some cases it's the only thing that gets people to pay attention to an article that needs some loving. Hell in the case of RPS, even the creator who works for the ambulance didn't come back to save it -- if there isn't an interest in improvement among those familiar with the subject, how does Wikipedia improve? That's one of the reasons I strongly disagree with the philosophy of "let's create 1000000 stubs now and flesh them later..." because they're all sittign stagnant with 9 month old 'notability'/'sources' tags. It's frustrating I think. But I'm having fun learning about subjects I didn't know anything about because I was able to find enough in Google to rescue them to some level of sourcing Curtis W. Harris, Victorian National Parks Association and Danni Leigh‎. Wow, rambly! Travellingcari (talk) 05:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I know the feeling, I find myself 'purging' my watchlist of extrainious junk on a monthly basis. It's already back to 963 and its only the 6th yet. I'm guessing that you might have a script installed to make AfD's simple, bahh ... they are spawn of the devil. I prefer to make a nomination manually, it causes the brain to think about it a bit more and the Nomination Rational gets a bit better than some of the effluent that makes a regular appeareance. And like I said, I'm not against what your doing, (hell, I agree with you in a lot of the cases) but if I can make you better at it, I have done a service to help the 'pedia. :)
  • Nope no script, I agree that manual = thought. I've got the copy/paste of some of the 'templates' for the steps down, and even then I foul up some of them, especially those that have been nominated before. I didn't expect to get this into WP. I first edited as an IP for a bit and then signed up because I wanted to be able to cite "my" revision to an article -- not in the formal sense but a hey look what I did (vs an anon IP) and then I got more and more into it. Have a good day! Travellingcari (talk) 12:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Precedent Question for You

Hi there. Quick question for you. Here, you said: Also, thinking that there is any precedent is not correct, as every AfD is evaluated on an individual basis, not according to a list of precedents (sorry, I don't know how to link directly to your comment in the discussion) However, what's the purpose of WP:OUTCOMES then? And why do 99% of school/village discussions have something along the lines of 'villages are automatically notable' example: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Blathur? Is there no precedent for deletion but only for keeping? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just curious. I'm not a fan of precedent for the sake of precedent because, like consensus, it can change over time but I'm not sure where to fin d the answer. Hope you're having a good weekend Travellingcari (talk) 21:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

WP:Outcomes is not a Guideline nor even an Essay, it only has Article status. Any AnonIP can edit it to show any 'Precedent' they choose, and how could they be refuted. Is anything on that Article WP:Verifiable? The first sentence of that Article says "Please note that this page is a basic, summarized guide on consensus established in AfD debates, and that consensus can change." Consensus is always changing. Notice DGG's comments here, well, If more and more are showing up, does that not then mean more and more people think they are notable?
As for the school/village discussions: Schools have an ongoing debate. As for Places, if I recall, the debate centred around "If it can be found in 2 atlases, its Verified. Since a community is unique, its notable" - but don't quote me on that one. The trick is to weed out the hoax towns, and there have been several.
PS weekend was spent in bed with a Cold, watching a winter whiteout close town for 2 days. I live in Northern Canada. Trade ya' places ??? :D Exit2DOS2000TC 18:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
NY weather is comparatively better, but noy by much. Was 8F yesterday morning with a wind chill of -12. I'm ready to ban winter all together, hope you're feeling better. The issue with DDG's comment is that these aren't new articles. I don't bother watching and AfDing new articles any more, I'd rather give them time to grow and develop and then AfD them later if necessary. I know WP:OUTCOMES isn't an absolute, I think I phrased my question poorly. What I meant was what's it's role as a 'look to' if the argument made my some is 'what's done before doesn't matter'. I actually just raised a similar question, with my procedural question on that AfD because I think there's a limit to notability of villages if the census doesn't even include them, but that's a horse of another colour! Great Falls Police Department‎

Hi again, Exit. Hope you're feeling better. Question, you're clearly trying to get me to see something with this AfD but I have no idea what it is. No one's talking about newspaper articles because there aren't any. The article is wholly sourced from the PD's website on the City's Website. No way is that independent no matter what the location. Want to clarify what you're getting at? I'm not being deliberately argumentative but there are no independet sources, period. That's where it fails WP:N, WP:CORP or anything else. Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 04:58, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the laugh

"apparently it does exist", although I usually find myself saying that about Chupacabra, it still made me laugh for this. Have a good night! TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 04:08, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, I was fully expecting to find it a Hoax ... but to my surprise :P Exit2DOS2000TC 04:13, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
this is why sources are a *good* thing. The closing admin got in a huff about the AfD but my question that I raise is often 'how does someone know it's notable if you don't source the damn thing?' While I think there's a doubt of needing a bibliography, I do think it's possible to create the stub/article with at least one source confirming existence/semi notability. I think that would solve half the deletion drama, but then again what's Wiki without drama? :) TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 04:53, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Teesside Park

An editor has nominated Teesside Park, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Teesside Park and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
