Copyright and notability edit

Thank you for your contributions. It appears that you have created or edited an article about a company or organization at Draft:Resource One Credit Union. However, the following problems exist with your submission:

  1. You cannot post copyrighted material on Wikipedia - even if you are the copyright holder, or have the copyright holder's permission - unless the material has been released for use by the verified copyright owner into the public domain or under a license compatible with Wikipedia. These licenses allow anyone — not just Wikipedia — to share, distribute, transmit, and adapt your work, free of charge and in perpetuity, provided that you are attributed as the author. Also, because some derivative works may be commercial, we cannot accept materials that are licensed only for educational use or even for general non-commercial use. Releasing the material is both permanent and irrevocable.
  2. Wikipedia requires that organizations meet its notability criteria to be deemed worthy of inclusion. It means this organization must have already been the subject of significant coverage by multiple sources that are both reliable and independent of the organization itself. Company-authored sources (such as press releases, interviews and social media) are defined as self-published and therefore not reliable. Wikipedia:Perennial sources is a good place to find out which sources are deemed reliable and which are not.

I'm sorry that this message was not more favourable. If you require more assistance, please consult the Help Desk or the Teahouse for new editors. Thank you for your cooperation, and best of luck with your future edits. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:17, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proper use of footnotes edit

I noticed that in your draft article Draft:Resource One Credit Union, you placed a bunch of {{cite web}} templates underneath the References section. However, this is not the proper way to insert references into articles, and therefore most of these will be useless until they are fixed.

To work properly, the {{cite web}} template must be enclosed by <ref> tags, e.g.

<ref>{{cite web [... contents ...]}}</ref>

As well, a reference has to be placed immediately after the phrase or section of text in the article that it directly supports, e.g.

Sentence stating a fact.<ref>{{cite web ...}}</ref>

The wiki software will then render that code on-screen as a numbered footnote, and automatically insert the text of your citation underneath the References heading, where the {{reflist}} template sits.

The guide Help:Footnotes will explain it much better than my crude overview. Please review it and then adjust your citations accordingly. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:37, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

As I mentioned above, placing all your citations in the reference section isn't the correct way. Each citation has to be placed after the particular text in the body of the article that is meant to support. As mentioned at WP:BURDEN, "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:04, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
