Problems with the visual editor

edit

Hi Elwin, I see that you're still using the visual editor, not the source text editor. If you can see a "publish" button (I don't know if you can), that's just another name for "save changes".

If you want to escape from the visual editor and edit the source text: At the top of the page, you should see "Preferences". Click on that, then the "Editing" tabbed page, and you may see an entry "Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta" which you can tick. Also make sure that "Enable the editing toolbar" is ticked. That may get you out of the visual editing mode. Then save your preferences.

Then, to edit your sandbox, click on the "Edit" link at the top of the page, just to the right of "Read". You should then be editing the source text, and you should see "Publish changes" and "Show preview" at the bottom of the page. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 09:15, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you have any technical questions, you can also ask at the Wikipedia Teahouse. Esowteric+Talk 09:17, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've copied and pasted the SOURCE text from the English article and to your sandbox, Elwin. I've hidden (remmed out) the book cover image and categories, as you can't use the images in user space and you don't want the sandbox article to be listed in the category pages. edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at WP:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. David Biddulph (talk) 19:59, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Help request

edit

Help me! Please...I'm trying to translate the page "Reflections (Sufi literature), but the book cover image disappeared. Guess I need to become a "confirmed user". How? I have been asked by The Idries Shah Foundation to translate. I'm an unpaid volunteer. I hope to get some cred with Wikipedia so I can do that. Thank you.

Please help me with...

Hi Ewirkala, welcome to the English Wikipedia. Your text is not lost; you can find it at Special:PermanentLink/897553921.
To translate a page to Spanish, please open https://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Especial:Traducci%C3%B3n_de_contenidos&campaign=contributionsmenu&to=es
On that page, you can click "New translation" and enter "Reflections (Sufi literature)" in the search box.
For more information, please see es:Ayuda:Cómo traducir un artículo. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:37, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
What happened is that you copied your Spanish version of Reflections over the English version. You need to do that at the Spanish Wikipedia site and give the page a Spanish title, not this English site. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 20:31, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
