Laocoon

edit

It's a while ago now, so I'm not sure. I think it was reproduced in R Brilliant's book My Laocoon. I'll check. Paul B (talk) 11:58, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you still have the book, it would be nice. Thanks a lot! --Eusebius (talk) 12:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, any update on this one? --Eusebius (talk) 20:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Commons VI

edit

Hi Eusebius,
May I please ask you to take a look here. Maybe you believe the scope should be changed to "Crazywell Cross"? Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I will react on the VI candidate page. I think "Crazywell Cross" is way too narrow for a VI scope. I would agree to support a single cross as soon as it is fairly representative, and I would also agree to support a VIS with all 152 (not 151, apparently) crosses. Regards, --Eusebius (talk) 21:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! It it exactly what I have said, if I were able to edit Commons. Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I took the picture from Panoramio.com, so it should probably have the Flickr template to it (if I didn't add it). I actually forgot I uploaded that picture :) - NeutralHomerTalk • March 2, 2009 @ 00:00

Thanks! But it is "all rights reserved" on Panoramio, I have to delete it... --Eusebius (talk) 05:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Awww...darn. I will see if I can't find a picture to replace it that is owned by the State of Alaska. - NeutralHomerTalk • March 2, 2009 @ 05:51
How about this one? It would be credited to Elizabeth Manfred (the person who took it) and the Alaska Division of Community and Regional Affairs (the site it is currently on). - NeutralHomerTalk • March 2, 2009 @ 05:55
I'll check (just not right now, no time). Please provide a link to the page where the picture is, not to the picture itself, it's always easier! Thanks anyway. --Eusebius (talk) 06:59, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
No worries, no rush :) Where the picture comes from is here. You should find it near the bottom of the page. It is called "City View 2". Please let me know if you need any further assistance, I will be glad to help. Take Care and Have a Great Monday...NeutralHomerTalk • March 2, 2009 @ 07:02

Hi again. I've had a look at the usage policy. It is too restrictive for both Commons and Wikipedia (non-commercial restrictions, mainly). Sorry again! --Eusebius (talk) 11:10, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh well, it was worth a shot. Thanks for looking into it for me though :) If I come across another picture about the town (hopefully through Flickr) I will shoot a message off to ya. Thanks again for your time...NeutralHomerTalk • March 2, 2009 @ 23:27

Authorship

edit

Hi there,

You dropped me a line about the authorship of several photos to be transferred to Commons. Sorry to come back to you only after a while but I am pretty busy with other stuff. To answer your question: All my self-made photos are released under a free license. I have uploaded a few government images as well but those are appropriately tagged and do not include my name. The photos I have made myself can be used by anyone within the limits of the GNU licence, no attribution required. Still, I would very much appreciate to have my full name connected with the photos on the image description page on Commons as they were on the en.wiki. I am aware that this will connect my Wikipedia username with my real name but for any consequences of this fact I am responsible myself. Thank you very much for your concerns on the privacy, they are very valid but I have thought about that before the uploads.

Wikipedia is not for the fortune, only for the fame. And if you name is not mentioned what kind of fame would that be? LOL. Thank you for your efforts to make Wikipedia a better place by structuring the images better and moving the free images to Commons. Since I became aware of the commons I upload them there, I never found the time to transfer my old images to the Commons. Users like you make Wikipedia a better place by pointing out potential dangers and by doing the work that others (incl. me) have missed. I appreciate it!

Thanks for your message. So you confirm that you are Thomas R Machnitzki? --Eusebius (talk) 05:53, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's me! doxTxob \ talk 03:13, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK thanks. --Eusebius (talk) 06:22, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your Featured picture candidate has been promoted
Your nomination for featured picture status, File:Trompette - premier piston - montage perspective.jpg, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. P.S. Because I wasn't sure which category to go with, I put it both under "Engineering and technology" and "Others". I think it can reasonably fit in both. Shoemaker's Holiday Over 184 FCs served 01:13, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
