Regarding links to

  Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Thank you.

You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links. Femto 14:05, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 13:14, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
  This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia. — Gareth Hughes 22:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aberra Molla edit

Hi Ethiopic. With regards to Aberra Molla, I deleted the article under criterion for speedy deletion A1 because it was a "Very short articles providing little or no context." After all, the only content was the person's name, which I don't think is quite enough for an encyclopedia article. If you intend to recreate the article, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Thanks. Picaroon (t) 02:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. With regards to the use of Ethiopic vs Geez, I think your best bet is to bring it up at the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Ethiopia, a group of users who work to make our Ethiopia content better and actively edit it. (I rarely edit Ethiopia articles anymore, which is why I'm not the best person to take this up with.) Picaroon (t) 21:20, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've replied on my talk page. Picaroon (t) 01:53, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've created the article Aberra Molla based on the source you provided and some other pages I found via Google. Please fix it if there is anything incorrect, and feel free to add your name in Ethiopic like in the lead of Haile Selassie (I always think this is a nice touch in articles, even if it isn't that useful). Also, if you own the copyright to this image of you, or the really nice on of you and and the emperor here, could you please consider licensing one of them under the GFDL and uploading it to add to the article? Picaroon (t) 01:00, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Picaroon: You can use my picture and thanks for understanding me. Aberra

You're welcome. Which picture is it that you are okay with me uploading, this one? Remember that by releasing your picture under the GFDL, you're giving up nearly all your rights to it, and anyone, not just Wikipedia, can use it as long as they abide by the terms of the license. This is your last warning.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Blin language, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia. — Gareth Hughes 16:41, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Garzo:

As a person who computerized Ethiopic, an alphabet used by many languages, I was just trying to correct the spelling errors you introduced and direct them to a source or reference. I was not trying to advertise Ethiopic.com and Wikipedia does not have links to my site.

On the other hand, you are the ones who promote web sites and products. Below is an example for Omniglot.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balinese_script

Image tagging for Image:DrAberraMolla-1-.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:DrAberraMolla-1-.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

I created the gif and uploaded to add it to your "Aberra Molla" page as

. The source is http://www.ethiopic.com/Dr._Aberra_Molla_Ethiopic.htm

Thanks! Aberra

July 2008 edit

Hello, it apears that you attempted to add Ge'ez lettering to List of Ethiopians. However, they all came through as question marks (with the exception of one "ረ"). Please check Help:Multilingual support (Ethiopic) and make sure you have correctly configured your system. Thanks, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:23, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Tigrinya language, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:00, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Tigrinya language, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well potentially being penalized by search engines. As you are evidently involved with the ethiopic.com website, it would be better if you used the article talk pages to propose the addition of these external links. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:00, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the links I added to articles on Ethiopic by Bekerie, Bloor and Molla. Thanks! (Aberra Molla (talk) 22:32, 8 October 2008 (UTC))Reply

Speedy deletion of Amharic Typewriter edit

A tag has been placed on Amharic Typewriter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Samtheboy (t/c) 20:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Aberra Molla related deletions edit

Deleting content at AfDs and in talk pages as you did here and here is disruptive. Please refrain to do so, as it is considered disruptive behaviour and ultimately can get you blocked or banned. I invite you to read our policies, starting with WP:TPO perhaps. Thanks. --Cyclopia - talk 13:09, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

We are not some forum to promote personal vanity and flatter yourself. Attempting to protect the article you created in self interest by balnking AFDs is not going to do your credibility an ounce of good on here. If you are genuinely notable in your field on a global level this will be decided in due course. If however you would genuinely like to help improve wikipedia an encyclopedia not to promote yourself but to improve encyclopedic articles like languages of Ethiopia, history and geography etc then I welcome you to edit. September 2009 edit
