The Iam Bank article

edit

Hi, I appreciated your comments on the talk page for the Iam Bank article. You clearly got the gist of the concern: A lot of it had a tone of "Here's what this bank can do you for YOU", and giving a lot of weight to what their mission and intentions are. A neutral article ought not to give a sense that it's communicating on behalf of the article's subject.

I don't really have an opinion on whether the bank meets the notability guidelines for inclusion here. Based on the sources you listed, there's an initial indication that it might. But, personally, I think a business should have gotten off the ground before an article appears because otherwise it's really, as you note, about something that doesn't exist yet, grounded more in intentions and expectations than on impact.

Thank you for the feedback! I've been tinkering with Wikipedia off and on for a year but this is only the second article I tried to write from scratch. (The first, James Bradby, was about an early African American sheriff in Virginia and didn't have the same kind of issues to deal with.)

I think in this case I just relied too heavily on "softball" media interviews to flesh it out. I am interested in the subject, so I might try again in a year or two depending on what coverage is out there and try to take a more bare bones approach (assuming they do ever launch).
