Hi Eryk, Thanks for this draft, and your invitation to comment. Great initiative! Here's some feedback, as I read through the draft document:

• "This doc is intended to be read ONLY by students in Environmental Studies/Conservation courses."

-- Please note that, while subtle, there's an imporant difference between the environmental sciences and environmental studies.

• "What's Notable? Remember that not every group doing good work on an environmental issue is notable enough for Wikipedia. Don’t rely on an organization’s own website. Instead, rely upon what others have said about your topic."

-- Here you might add a link to the later section later on reliable sources.

• "Best source: Current books, textbooks, or other materials from reliable publishers, written by peer-reviewed experts in environmental science. Consider this the gold standard!"

-- Here you might add something about "peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals".

-- Also, in the environmental sciences, reliable sources often come from a variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary sources -- not just environmental science or environmental studies.

Further suggestions

Hi Eryk, Coming along nicely! Here are a few additional suggestions:

• For: "By documenting and sharing your knowledge about environmental science, you’ll help Wikipedia..."

... you might substitute ...

"By documenting and sharing your knowledge about one or more of the environmental sciences, you’ll help Wikipedia..."

There's fairly strong consensus these days, I think, that there are multiple environmental sciences.

• For: "Choose topics with plentiful and interesting literature in peer-reviewed journals or books, but not..."

... you might substitute ...

"Choose topics with plentiful and interesting literature in peer-reviewed journals, other science periodicals, or books, but not..."

This would more clearly include publications such as Scientific American.

• For: "written by experts in environmental science."

... you might substitute ...

"written by experts in one or more of the environmental sciences."

As per above.
