Speedy deletion of Essays, Moral, Political, and Literary

P.S. I have redirected your detailed analysis of Of Refinement in the Arts to Essays, Moral, Political, and Literary. Wikipedia articles are typically written in summary style, so there's no need for in-depth coverage of each essay in Hume's collection.

So is it not possible to salvage any part of the work on 'Of Refinement in the Arts'? I guess its a bit detailed, but it could be shortened, and the thing is the other chapter headings would give someone an opportunity to expand on the other chapters. The problem I fear is that there is now no incentive for others to contribute their knowledge on any of the other essays, and it efefctively becomes a closed book, if you see what I mean. Since this is a wiki, your article is far from a closed book. You're more than welcome to revise your analysis of Hume's essay, or to add discussion of other essays in his work. My redirect was meant as a friendly nudge, I've seen what happens when contributors get carried away with hyper-detailed analyses which ultimately get discounted as original research. I'd like to suggest a concise approach that covers the basics of each essay, while relying on references to prior analysis from multiple scholars. The article on A Vindication of the Rights of Woman provides a great example of the sort of approach to philosophy texts that is currently prescribed by Wikipedia editorial guidelines. ˉˉ^anetode╦╩ 16:01, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
