"A fig-leaf for materialism" edit

Lenin says of Huxley "agnosticism serves as a fig-leaf for materialism" on page 190 of Materialism and Empirio-criticism. DuncanHill (talk) 12:56, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Duncan. I've restored the earlier, more interesting quotation - which is at p 195 in my copy. Errantius (talk) 15:37, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's a good turn of phrase. DuncanHill (talk) 15:47, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Self-restraints edit

I'm gonna follow @NebY:'s advice, given at his talkpage & stand back a bit from the RFC. Myself & Skyring have been bludgeoning the process & he & I have gotten to the point of repeating ourselves & he's becoming increasingly uncivil. I'm quite concerned about Skyring's revealing that he (Skyring) has been involved with the Australian republic movement in some form or another since the 1990's (see discussion at NebY's talkpage). It raises my advocacy concerns, about Skyring's motives. Please check out the discussions at NebY's talkpage. PS - I consider you & NebY, to be the level-headed ones in that RFC :)GoodDay (talk) 01:04, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks. That has been my aim today, in formulating an agreement for ending the RfC—taking up the proposal from Himself. I think anybody can see that, if such agreement can't be reached, there will have to be a reference to an Admin, as you suggested a while ago. Yet, what are the chances that the Admin wouldn't understand the issues? I can't work out the ARM: they seem, at least now, to be nationalists. Errantius (talk) 03:39, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep watching the RFC & will only post there again, if anybody pings me with a question. No doubt, Skyring won't do the same. Been putting up with him around this topic, for well over a decade. GoodDay (talk) 05:08, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
BTW, at the rate of changes being made at the Constitution of Australia article? It's soon gonna look like a republican Constitution. GoodDay (talk) 08:21, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
PS, Skyring/Pete is testing my patients (at RFC), but I'm maintaining self-control. GoodDay (talk) 21:08, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

My apologies Errantius. I lost my temper with 'you know who' at the Australian notice board & had to retract a post of mine. GoodDay (talk) 08:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I know how you feel! Errantius (talk) 09:29, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Be advised (I know from past experience), if he feels he's gotten the 'last word' in that discussion at the Australian notice board? He will go ahead & re-add his questionable edit at the David Hurley article. GoodDay (talk) 22:34, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

BTW: Notice how quiet it's been since since August 25? Sadly, it'll end on September 1. GoodDay (talk) 15:32, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

How do you know? Errantius (talk) 00:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Difficult to believe, there's actually eight editors who side with the governors being head of state, while at the same time acknowledging they represent the queen. Thank goodness none of the governors' websites claimed they were monarchs of each state. GoodDay (talk) 13:37, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm thinking of closing this RFC as not likely to reach even consensus any time soon. What do you think? Errantius (talk) 14:33, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I already put in a request for closure. But, it's up to you. GoodDay (talk) 08:25, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
