School and various comments edit

Hi Erina

Hope you are fine ! I looked at recent contributions and I thought it was great ! I collected a few comments and support info on the way.

  • [2] Remember to sign your comments. This can be done using three third ~~~ If the sign is hard to find on your keyboard, you can find it immediately below the edit box... there is a list of unusual caracters you can copy and paste. Then pass the word to others :) It is best to always sign your messages... Note: when you fail doing it, a bot does it for you.
  • I left a comment to User:Kateregga1 to thank him for the images. I think it would be great if him or his students could also collect and add images related to ggaba for example. It would tremendously improve the current article !!!
  • Regarding the history of the school I must say that some of the text does not follow neutrality or citation rules. It is a little bit too laudative, with no references. For example...
    • The next Head teacher was Ms. Achayo Christine, today[when?] ---> do not put "unfixed" time reference. Prefer providing date (as in 2014)
    • Honorable member of parliament ---> interesting. Would be worth putting internal links to this person such as Christine Achayo. However, I could not quickly find sources that she belongs to the parliament. Which one ? I found this only [3]. Might be worth checking that information.
    • She joined the school in 2004 as the deputy Head teacher and later took over office in 2005. ----> ok
    • Ms. Achayo was a hard working, relentless, principled and focused head teacher. ----> unless you can source someone saying that... it is not okay to write this (even if true) because it is an opinion rather than a hard fact. If you want to put it there... it needs sourcing (such as a newspaper article)
    • Tremendous achievements were reaped during his era. The achievements among others was; Improved discipline and academic performance, structural change of the school such as Magandazi block and the school play ground. The school enrolment also increased and parents picked confidence in the school----> it is great to have put specifics about the achievements (I think that is fine to let it this way). However, the "picked confidence" needs to be sourced or removed. That's too much of an opinion.
    • The current head teacher Mrs. Nassiwa Teddy Ddamulira, transferred to St. Denis S.S Ggaba as the Head teacher from 2010 up to date. ----> ok
    • She is a hard working, loving and co-operative leader. ----> fine, but opinion. To remove...
    • She has strengthened relationship between the German friends, Ministry of education and all other well wishers. ----> how did she strengthen the relationship ? Can they be more specific ? Also, "all other well wishers" ----> who is that ?
There would be other comments I could make on that history part, but these are just meant to be food for though and examples of what can be improved. Right now, the section is not ok. The other sections are fine !!!
  • Categories were not done the right way. Here is how to do them [4]. I added two more (I hope it is fine :))
  • When new people create their account, tell them to put the biography about them on their user page. Not on their talk page.
  • When new people create their account, you can copy paste on their user page [[Category:Wikipedians in Uganda]]{{Userbox Kumusha}} to categorise them (example)
  • When new people create their account, you can copy paste on their user talk page {{subst:Welcome}} to welcome them. It will place a message there with some help links for them.

Moving drafts to mainspace edit

I've moved a number of new articles back to draftspace, as they do not appear to be properly sourced, and are likely to be quickly deleted if they remain in mainspace. I presume you have some sort of off-wiki relationship with the creators of these articles — if so, please advise them to place {{subst:submit}} at the top of their draft articles to have them reviewed.

I also moved User:Irene Mutesi back to the correct title — please note that moving user pages and talk pages does not rename the user. If she would like a new username, please have her request one at WP:CHU.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ping me here if you have any other questions. Bradv🍁 05:00, 16 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Event coordinator granted edit

After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
  • The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
  • Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 15:17, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Erina Mukuta edit

Hello, Erinamukuta. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Erina Mukuta".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 08:45, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October! edit

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Invitation to participate in the upcoming WPWP Campaign edit

Hello Wikipedians,

This is to invite you to join the WPWP Campaign to help improve Wikipedia articles with photos and win prizes. The campaign will run from 1st July 2020 to 31st August 2020.

The campaign primarily aims at using images from Wikimedia Commons on Wikipedia articles that are lacking images. Participants will choose among Wikipedia pages without photo images, then add a suitable file from among the many thousands of photos in the Wikimedia Commons, especially those uploaded from thematic contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Folklore, etc.) over the years.

Please visit the campaign page to learn more about the WPWP Campaign.

With kind regards,

Thank you,

Deborah Schwartz Jacobs, Communities Liaison, On behalf of the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos Organizing Team - 21:32, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Your signature edit

Hi Erinamukuta, I've noticed that your signature used on talk pages doesn't contain a link to your userpage or your talk page. A link to at least one of a) your userpage, b) your talk page, or c) your contributions page is required per the guidelines. Failing to do this causes the automatic reply link to fail to appear and makes it harder for people to reply to your posts.

Please can you fix your signature so that it complies with the guidelines? Thanks! stwalkerster (talk) 09:18, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
