Ella Thomas edit

edit

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Ella Thomas. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:46, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Another Ella Thomas edit

edit

I have reverted your July 7, 2024, edit to Ella Thomas. The principles that I mentioned in my post above from June 19, 2024, still apply with regard to the date of birth. As for the name of a spouse and the number of children, WP:BLPPRIVACY does not apply, but Wikipedia:Citing sources certainly applies. Content should not be added without a citation to a reliable published source. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:57, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have reached out to Wikipedia administrators as this is starting to feel targeted. Everything you object to is common knowledge even acknowledged by Ella Thomas publicly. Erifanz (talk) 02:46, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, here's a bunch of policies you have been breaching:
  • You do not own the biography of Ella Thomas.
  • You have been edit warring over its content.
  • The content you have added has been either unsourced or sourced to user generated content or to Google searches. The content you add needs to be sourced to reliable, verifiable, independent sources. You cannot claim that it "is common knowledge" and skip the sourcing (WP:VNT).
  • You have a conflict of interest and should not be editing the article directly. To avoid further conflict this I have blocked you from editing the article. You may use the edit request wizard to request that alterations are made on your behalf. You will need to provide sources for your requests.

Why am I being blocked when I was the one asking for help. I established this page for my cousin years ago. Other pages of notable Eritreans were also being changed which is why I was concerned,. I work for my cousins production company. Please advise. Erifanz (talk) 07:10, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Ella Thomas) for edit warring.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cabayi (talk) 08:36, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I literally was adding citations and correcting the flags. Why am i being blocked for making corrections? Erifanz (talk) 08:46, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
OMG... it's our image... I moderate her website... how can you just decide to block on wrong information. So when it's the image you accept the official website but when it's cited as a source then it's unreliable. Can you not understand how backwards this all seems. Erifanz (talk) 09:03, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • "I established this page for my cousin years ago."
The article about Ella Thomas was established by Groovepup (talk · contribs) in 2009. You did not edit it until last September.
  • "I moderate her website."
This is Wikipedia. It has policies and standards that you need to adhere to.
  • "I work for my cousins production company."
So, rather than just a conflict of interest, you have a PAID conflict of interest. The WMF's terms of use require you to make a disclosure of your paid editing. The requirement is described at WP:PAID. You should make this declaration as your next edit.
  • "Can you not understand how backwards this all seems."
I can. Can you not understand that there are standards you need to meet? Claiming to be the subject's cousin or employee does not remove those requirements. The standards exist to protect the subjects of articles.
You are only blocked from editing the article yourself. You can still request changes are made on your behalf. Cabayi (talk) 13:49, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • I am Groovepup... it was a family joke.
  • I understand and am trying to follow and learn.
  • I am not. a paid employee... I work there as a learning experience. So just conflict of interest.
  • Would you be so kind as to explain why a picture form the website triggers a copyright warning? Erifanz (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia allows all its content to be reused freely. It follows that we cannot accept material which violates somebody's copyright. The image you uploaded, c:File:Ella Thomas.jpg includes, in its metadata, an assertion that the copyright is owned by Alanna Gilbert. In the declarations you made you claimed it was obtained from a website which appears to be http://www.officialellathomas.com/uploads/4/7/6/0/4760693/227a4810_orig.jpg in which case we would assume that the copyright (or a licence to use the image) is held by the owners of that website. One way or another the copyright to that image is owned by someone and we can't accept it without some release from the copyright owner. The page on Commons invites you to email confirmation that you own the copyright and that you release it or license it appropriately. Cabayi (talk) 19:04, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
