I have modified the original article to include the hangon tag and have added official AACRAO permission information on the talk page. This was my first time posting new content to Wikipedia. Thanks for giving me information on correcting my mistakes. eric stoller 23:20, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adoption edit

Hi. I saw your page on the adopt-a-user page; and I would be thrilled to adopt you. Check out my user page here. Thanks, Meldshal42 01:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tell me about yourself edit

Can you tell me about yourself so I can add userboxes; info and such? Please; nothing personal. Meldshal42 22:12, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reply Here:

I live in Oregon. I have a masters degree in education. I am a Mac user. What sort of information do you want to know? :-) I have a good sense of humor. I laughed when I saw that you edited my userpage. It would appear that you must have checked out my blog. Eric Stoller 01:41, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userbox edit

I added the "User Oregon template. Thanks,

Meldshal42 01:18, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Although, it would appear that one of your other adoptees does not appreciate your editing of their userpage.Eric Stoller 01:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why that Timpul does that. After all, an Adopter is supposed to edit their adoptee's userpage. Meldshal42 11:54, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Contribs Userbox edit

Do you want to add the contributions" userbox like I taught Zelink to do? Reply and if you say yes; I'll tell you here. Meldshal42 13:41, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, please. Eric Stoller 19:49, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay. You have to type in

45+This user has made more than 45 contributions to Wikipedia.

-You currently have 45 edits!

Thanks,Meldshal42 14:56, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Does the contrib number have to be manually added? or does it appear when you enter in the code for the userbox, if so, can you just type in the code without the brackets? Thanks. Eric Stoller 17:44, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have to type in the number of edits. Thanks, Meldshal42 23:27, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

How do you determine how many edits you have made? Thanks. Eric Stoller 00:57, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, there is a toll called wannabekate and the above userbox will show you how mnay edits you currently have. Thanks,Meldshal42 19:46, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean tool vs. "toll"? I am very confused. How do I determine the number of edits that I have made to Wikipedia? Eric Stoller 17:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes I meant tool. I"m sorry. If you click on the above userbox then it will show you how many edits you have. So click on the "45 edits and you will see how many you currently have. You don't have 45 anymore though. Thanks, Meldshal42 19:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC) P.S. Did you see your award? If not; the page is here.Reply

More questions edit

What is your favorite color? Favorite food? Animal? Um, favorite sport? Sports you do? dislikes? Meldshal42 17:26, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't really have a favorite color. I like earth tones... I enjoy eating Indian, Japanese, and Thai foods. My favorite animal...hmmm not sure I have one. I grew up on a farm so I am comfortable with cats, dogs, chickens, horses, cows, hogs, etc. My favorite sport would have to be ping pong! I dislike dishonest people. Userboxes edit

Thank you for replying to my test. I added some userboxes considering your interests (I had to make some)! Thanks, Meldshal42 19:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ping Pong edit

Why did you remove the ping pong userbox? That took me an hour to make! Meldshal42 12:32, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I like playing ping pong but that does not mean I want a ping pong userbox :) Eric Stoller 17:23, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh. Okay. Sorry. :( Meldshal42 21:44, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Student Affairs edit

Hi! I noticed you have contributed greatly to some education-related articles and I was wondering if you'd like to join a WikiProject for Student Affairs that I'm trying to start. I tried this a few months ago but there was no interest, so now I'm trying to contact people directly that may have an interest. Let me know if you'd want to join such a WP so I can submit a request. Thanks! --Noetic Sage 23:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm interested...not sure I have a lot of time though.--Eric Stoller (talk) 23:39, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Statement of purpose Wikipedia Page edit

Hi Eric,

This is a request to consider keeping the site www.statementofpurpose.com as an external link on that statement of purpose wikipedia page. Please do not confuse this site with statement**S**ofpurpose.com (plural) which is a site that provides essay editing services.

Statementofpurpose.com or SOP as we like to call it is a site my best friend and I started back in 1998 with helpful advice for students to write better sops on their own. We do not provide services nor do we encourage visitors to use essay editing services. In fact most of the university sites that you have listed as external links -- all link to statementofpurpose.com for that very reason.

We are a trusted resource with quality content and thousands of daily visitors. In my opinion SOP is one of the better sites with statement of purpose tips on the internet. What makes us experts?? We have personally helped scores of people with their SOPs and they have gotten into some of the best universities in the world, and using our site thousands of users have gotten into good schools and sent us thank you notes. I will be very happy to share that with you if choose, or feel free to check out the guestbook on our site.

I added SOP the first time in Decmeber of 2007 and it was deleted and then again earlier this summer to the same effect. I understand you want to keep quality external links on Wikipedia and I'm stating that I think we belong in that category.

I would appreciate it if you would consider adding SOP back to the list of external sites yourself because I think it deserves to be there.

Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Eric, Have you given any thought to including www.statementofpurpose.com as a resource under the statement of purpose page? I think I have made a good case to have it included in there. Please let me know. Thanks. Prashant

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations edit

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 00:58, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Homonormativity edit

I am a student in an English course that is about the discursive practices of Wikipedia. One of our tasks is to take an article and do whatever we can to improve its quality. I was wondering if you can tell me anything more about why the article on Homonormativity was removed.

Thank you

For some reason, it appears that someone is trying to redirect homonormativity into heteronormativity. They are not the same so it really doesn't make any sense. Eric Stoller (talk) 22:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
