Lincoln Acres, California edit

If the unincorporated community of Lincoln Acres is totally within National City, then it is an usually enclave. BlankVerse 14:50, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the info. I notice on the San Diego County website under their General Plan for 2020 they refer to Lincoln Acres and two other places as "county islands," since they're surrounded by other incorporated cities and not part of the contiguous unincorporated county land. Eric Bekins 23:47, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
A county island is specific name for an enclave of unincorporated county land within an incorporated city, so you could also use that description.
I know that in Orange County, the Orange County Local Area Formation Committee, is trying very hard to eliminate as many 'county islands' and other small unincorporated areas as possible (LAFCO's are responsible for approving the creation of new cities, annexations of unincorporated areas, and determining the "sphere of influence" for cities on nearby unincorporated areas). You might check to see if the San Diego LAFCO has their minutes and other information online so that you can see what the current status of Lincoln Acres is.
Also: Try to always use the special wikicode instead of HTML (I know that it can look confusing and intimidating when you first start editing on the Wikipedia, but it is much easier than HTML once you learn it). And when you reply to a comment on a talk page, you usually indent your reply by adding a colon at the beginning of the line. BlankVerse 10:44, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I'm still learning. It's becoming quite addictive, and I'm spending too much time on Wikipedia from work! Eric Bekins 18:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

BYU Template edit

So, do you like most of the current {{User BYU}} except for the Y? At one point the Y looked chopped, but not any more. Yes, we can make the Y a bit taller than the B and the U. That would be a minor change, though. Do you want to experiment yourself (using the ones on the talk page) to find something that you like better than what we have now? Let me know if you need guidance on how to do that. --NThurston 20:05, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

UCSD school of Law edit

I was under the impression UCSD and Cal Western school of laws were working together, so UCSD students can get a law degree. [1]; However, I just looked intoit futher and I found out there is only one degree UCSD offers with Cal Western, a degree in Health Law. So, if USCD only offers one degree (as far as I know) relating to law, then I guess you are right and they do not have a law school, but rather they use resources at Cal Western to get a limited law degree. Thanks for clarifying. -ChristopherMannMcKay 15:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

For your reversion power. It's nice to know someone else is doing this too. --JDitto 07:16, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:NationalCitySeal.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:NationalCitySeal.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art edit

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:50, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
