Speedy deletion of "Appropedia" edit

A page you created, Appropedia, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is obvious advertising or promotional material.

Proposed deletion of "Applied Sustainability" edit

The deletion of an article you created, Applied Sustainability, has been proposed for the following reason:

This article is a vehicle for a spam article, Appropedia.

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

June 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Appropedia has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'tripod\.com' (link(s): http://members.tripod.com/) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Appropedia edit

This article is liable to be speedily deleted according to Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion A7: "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant; to avoid speedy deletion an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, just give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable."

Can you provide a reason why www.appropedia.org is an important or significant website? --Stormie (talk) 02:57, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a reliable source for Appropedia being "the largest and fastest growing web2.0 website for gnu fdl appropriate technology information"? --Stormie (talk) 12:11, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, that would be Original Research. Do you know of any newspaper or magazine articles, for instance, about Appropedia? --Stormie (talk) 21:28, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Appropedia edit

I have nominated Appropedia, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Appropedia. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? SchuminWeb (Talk) 15:29, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, but... maybe soon. edit

Thanks for having a go at creating an Appropedia article. I never created one as I know how strict the criteria are and Appropedia doesn't meet them. There is a journal article coming as you're aware, and it's likely there'll be published articles. When the time comes to create one, I'll help out, but probably won't directly edit the article.

Starting a draft in user space first might be a good idea, given how unfriendly Wikipedia has become to those who don't follow the rules exactly. (Hoping for better.) --Chriswaterguy talk 04:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Appropedia edit

Hi, and welcome back. Thanks for creating the article. After a quick scan trough it, I see no problems that would warrant deletion (though it could use some copyediting from experienced Wikipedians). I hope you like the place, and decide to stay! Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 16:31, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Open Source Appropriate Technology edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Open Source Appropriate Technology, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.appropedia.org/Open_Source_Appropriate_Technology. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:00, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Open Source Appropriate Technology edit

A tag has been placed on Open Source Appropriate Technology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Timneu22 · talk 12:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://nciia.org/about.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance edit

A tag has been placed on National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
