I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Happy Wiki-ing!

Game screenshot edit

Hi! I noticed your edits reverting the game-screenshot template.

You're correct: not all game screenshots are non-free. That's actually a large part of the reason the templates are being renamed! The original template on the page was the game-screenshot template. The text of that template, however, indicated that it was a "fair use" licensing template, and should only ever have been applied to non-free images. It wasn't simply to label all game screenshots regardless of licensing status. The templates are being renamed to indicate that they are licensing templates, not categorization templates, and to make it easier to identify non-free content.

For that reason, your message on Cydebot's edit is misleading. It's not "erroneous"—the person who originally placed the template was the one in error. I would hate to see someone read that and mistakenly block it thinking that it was going around and making incorrect edits, because it's doing exactly the right thing. If you can think of other open-source/free software game images where this would also be a problem, your help would very much be welcome in putting the correct templates on them! Ahhh, okay. Thank you for clearing that up for me :) Entro-P 21:17, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Three-revert rule on NetHack edit

You appear to have reverted other users' removal of spoiler warnings on NetHack four times in the last 24 hours. Please see Wikipedia:Three-revert rule, and the discussion of spoiler warnings at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Policies/Wikipedia:Spoiler warning, and avoid edit warring. (This is independent of the merits of the spoiler warnings in this particular case; I don't mind either way whether they are in the article; 3RR applies to discourage edit warring irrespective of the merits of the two sides.) Thanks edit

Thanks for adding the page on NetHack (the hacking game).--67.11.33.254 06:10, 28 May 2007 (UTC) SilverFoxReply

No problem, admittedly the addition of that page was motivated by my wanting to clean up NetHack (role-playing game) and move non-relevant information elsewhere. Entro-P 11:02, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

NetHack (hacking game) edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article NetHack (hacking game), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. McGeddon 20:06, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, okay, but if someone's adding unencyclopaedic content to a page, there's no point farming it out to its own article that you know full well will have to be deleted by an admin five days later. Just delete the content, and explain that you would have created an article if it deserved one. --McGeddon 20:50, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, you might as well put it up for speedy-deletion under G7, particularly now that I've had (apparently) the game creator agreeing that he'd rather not have the article around at the moment. --McGeddon 09:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vulture's Eye edit

It appears that this account belongs to the same person who develops Vulture's Eye. If so: any notion as to when the homesite for it will be back up? The homepage for the project is linked from the appropriate article here at Wikipedia, but the site at http://www.darkarts.co.za/projects/vultures/ has continued to be unavailable for a while. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from updating the relevant article, I also want to download the latest version of the game, so there is a selfish element to this request for news in addition to wanting to update the Vulture's Eye article here. :) I attempted to locate, at the very least, a mirror of the binary for Vulture's Eye in order to link it from the Vulture's Eye article, but I cannot find such a mirror.

  • The website will be back up tonight (5 Jun 2007) or tomorrow. The downloads will be available by the latest the end of this weekend. Entro-P 11:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Clive Crous edit

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Clive Crous, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. mms 01:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note on User talk:Encyclopædia Dramatica‎ edit

Assuming that the note you left on the above was actually serious -- which, given that it was your very first edit after your emergence from a 5-month absence, I'm skeptical about -- a read of this may prove instructive. --Calton | Talk 15:09, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • It was serious, thank you for the link Entro-P (talk) 13:58, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Vulture's edit

I have nominated Vulture's, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vulture's. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
