User talk deletion

(Re: the above post: yes, I suppose I must have just had a crazy impulse.) Hi, Enochlau. Deleting Sumple's userpage on user request is fine, of course, but we're not supposed to delete user talk pages. See the policy here. They're kept for the sake of the history, and on the consideration that most users who storm out in anger return after a while, and in justice to other contributors. Blanking the page is not a problem, but the history isn't supposed to be made to disappear. I've recreated it. Regards, Bishonen | talk 17:47, 27 May 2007 (UTC).Reply

"Image:Adam Keller.jpg"

I couldn't quite follow on why you removed the free fair use image of Adam Keller Here. It's a rather good picture and free for fair use also. (i'm watching your page, so you can reply here). Jaakobou 12:51, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Judging by my deletion comment, it appears that the image was deleted on the English Wikipedia in April because a duplicate was found on the Commons, and at that time, such a duplicate existed. Recently, the Commons copy was deleted: see this. You'll have to ask the Commons people. (But if you say it's fair use, then it must not be on the Commons. Fair use images must be hosted locally on the English Wikipedia and must be accompanied by fair use rationale.) enochlau (talk) 13:33, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
i don't believe people are allowed to use it for commercial proffit, i think it's only fair use, and humbly request you undelete the image... and if possible return the article to the way it was before deletion... yeah, i'm a nag. Jaakobou 23:29, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Afraid of Monsters

I did some research, will this be sufficient for the web notability criteria:

== Notability ==
=== Non-trivial published works ===
=== Well-known and independent award ===
=== Distribution via a well known and independent source ===

(I prefer a reply here rather than on my user talk page.) --Pizzahut2 18:47, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The other problem is that it has undergone the deletion process: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Afraid of Monsters, which means that it can be speedily deleted under {{db-repost}}. I suggest you take this matter to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 01:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Afraid of Monsters. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Pizzahut2 10:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

image talk deletion

I noticed you deleted at least two images without deleting their talk pages. I've marked the ones I found with {{db-talk}}, but wanted to let you know for next time, and in case there are others. Ingrid 02:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

What is Forking and why was it given as a reason for deleting my page?

A friend came to me and noticed that my page had been deleted. The reason was "Forking" not sure what that is. Please explain. I wrote the article and posted an original photo.

Which page and which photo? enochlau (talk) 12:02, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question about meaning of {db-blanked}

Hi, our wiki submission for imemories was deleted on May 31 and I tried to search for the meaning of db-blanked, but couldn't find it. If you could shed light on this, that would help us better re-calibrate the submission so it fits the guidelines. Thanks!

It means the page was found to be blanked by the author. The meaning of these deletion codes can be found on WP:CSD. enochlau (talk) 16:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense?

How was this nonsense? List of national reptiles Wikipedia:Patent nonsense?

I'm sure there could be such an article written, but the contents of the article were just nonsense. enochlau (talk) 02:45, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non notable band

I flagged a page for speedy deletion and you were the administrator who deleted it:

06:19, 10 June 2007 Enochlau (Talk | contribs) deleted "BEST'ija"  (nn band)

However the page was recreated, and whoever recreated it did so with the CSD tag in place, and then put a hangon tag there. Just thought i should bring it to your attention. Rockerbaby 10:32, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. It's been zapped again already. enochlau (talk) 10:38, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lady Rataxes

Hi. May you please tell me why the article Lady Rataxes was deleted? Thanks, --Taddybear500 16:34, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted for being nonsense under WP:CSD. If you wish to contest the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 17:04, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Gavin Brown (academic)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Gavin Brown (academic), by ExtraDry (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Gavin Brown (academic) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Gavin Brown (academic), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Gavin Brown (academic) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:34, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Marvin Bernard

Hi there,

An article (Marvin Bernard) was deleted by you in June 2006. I had no part in creating the article but I was just wondering why it was deleted; I wish to create an article on Marvin, as he is a highly notable former Major League Baseball player. Thanks--Thomas.macmillan 03:04, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Go ahead and create it. I deleted the article because it was blanked - a housekeeping operation. enochlau (talk) 04:21, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't correctly tagged. Just make sure that you selected the correct license from the drop down box when uploading and all should be fine. enochlau (talk) 06:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

please undelete our article

dear admin,

you have deleted our article "cdrinfo", why have you done this? please contact me for undelete this.

you deleted my article

Why you deleted my article Dmitry Lubenskiy (composer) ?

It was a biographical article that contained no assertion of the notability of the subject, and it was therefore deleted as per WP:CSD. You may wish to consult WP:BIO and WP:V. If you wish to dispute the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 13:04, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Enochlau. gfdl presumed; that was the reason when you deleted File:Goldney01.jpg. Please tell me how did you know that image was not GDFL? Thanks.--TheEgyptian 17:07, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was not tagged as GFDL, and as an image tagged as GFDL-presumed, which is not allowed anymore, it was deleted. If you have evidence to the contrary that it was GFDL, I am happy to undelete it. enochlau (talk) 22:59, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Polynomialdeg5.png

Hi Enochlau, could you please check your image of the polynomial of degree 5 in Polynomial. It has different real roots so that all 5 roots should be shown in the image, i can only spot 3...

It is correct. If you look at the caption, it has a + term at the end, so the original polynomial with 5 real roots has been shifted up. (The caption is a little cut off because it's so long.) enochlau (talk) 23:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, of course, i see it now :-)

Adam Keller Image

could you please explain to me this deletion. you can reply here and not on my page, i'll be watching. Jaakobou 10:45, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted from the English Wikipedia, because an identical copy with the same name was found on the Commons. It is now a red link because the image was then subsequently deleted from the Commons for some other reason: see the log. enochlau (talk) 14:59, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
could you please restore the image, it's fair use, but not free license free license talk. Jaakobou 12:08, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
A couple of problems: it's currently not being used in any pages, so the moment I undelete it, it's instantly deletable. Also, I know Arafat is dead, but surely there must be some free alternatives available that will negate the fair use requirements. The best I think I can do is email you the file and you can upload it again at your leisure. enochlau (talk) 12:51, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
i can find the file, i don't wish to redo all the page information... please revert this, and undelete the image. Jaakobou 17:15, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe that there is a policy or guideline which permits or recommends me to undelete this image. The page information is as follows:

===Image Source===

HHO gas

Hi. Can you please undelete Talk:HHO gas? WP:CSD#G8 does not apply. The latest DRV specified that the articles will be kept, but the content merged into Oxyhydrogen.

The talk page was already speedied once. It needs some kind of notice at the top to prevent other admins from mistakenly speedying it in the future. — Omegatron 01:04, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm a little confused though: there's hardly any page history, just a page move:
Page history

    * 02:06, 1 July 2007 . . Jayvdb (Talk | contribs | block) (9 bytes) (now it can go)
    * 02:01, 1 July 2007 . . Jayvdb (Talk | contribs | block) (42 bytes) (moved Talk:HHO gas to User:Jayvdb/HHO gas research)
What is worth keeping about this? enochlau (talk) 02:43, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh. I hadn't seen that. It should probably not have been moved to user space. Can it be moved back into the main space and kept undeleted? — Omegatron 03:06, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Note that moving it might be opposed by certain editors, since they really really don't want anything related to these articles on Wikipedia, but the AfD/DRV specified that the content should be kept.
Also note that I could do it, but I'm not going to touch it because of this. Judge for yourself. — Omegatron 03:10, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Related: Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Omegatron#Oxyhydrogen, User_talk:Riana#Deletion_of_Talk:HHO_gas, User_talk:Xoloz#HHO_gas_redux. Sorry for the split-up discussions. — Omegatron 03:29, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah. Sorry, but I don't want to touch anything to do with an RfC either :( There doesn't seem to be any particular rush to un-userfy the talk page, so I'll just defer to the judgement of those editors who are more familiar with the issues at hand. enochlau (talk) 15:07, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
