Diana Of London edit

dear sir ,would you please tell me why my article about Diana of london cosmetics is stopped while loreal, max factor and so many others have articles and they are yet not spamlike?! what i was trying was not an advertising thing sir and you know it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Alireza11536 (talkcontribs).

The article was deleted because it read like advertising. If you believe that it is a valid topic, you are free to recreate the content, citing sources and writing with a neutral point of view. Please do not copy and paste from other websites. enochlau (talk) 11:03, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the Fur edit

Sir, I'm sorry if there's a mistake, but I just checked on the article of I made of In the Fur to add about their recent tour of England, and found you had deleted it. May I please have an explanation? Thank you, RebDrummer61 (talkcontribs) 17:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted for being an article about a band that does not assert their notability per WP:CSD. If you wish to contest the deletion, go to WP:DRV. If you wish to rewrite it, follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability (music) otherwise it will be deleted again. enochlau (talk) 01:35, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey edit

Hey Enoch, you made a request to have 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey translated from the French Wikipedia. I have been (sporatically) translating this article since January 2. I am about one third to one half done.

Maybe you could have a look at my progress so far. I have been so immersed in the details of translation and the technical aspects of the subject that it is difficult for me to objectively review my work.

Thanks.

Twas Now 06:57, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS This article might be completely translated within a week, but don't count on it. I'm sure you can understand the priorities of a university student, though I expect you're not too anxious about this translation.

ABT and Abt edit

Hello, as you may have noticed, I have separated these two again, and added links in between the articles. The title and name is not related to the acronym, which you might have overlooked while cleaning up. ADY edit

Hi. You edited the ADY disambiguation page. I wonder why you thought that Endre Ady should be in the See also section, as if he wasn't important. He is one of the most outstanding poets of Hungary, and I think that more people are interested in the article about him than in the one about the Adyghe language. Speedball, again. edit

Hello Enochlau. Unfortunately, Jarkka Saariluoma (talk · contribs) has struck again: the Speedball article has been moved to Speedball (paintball), and Speedball (disambiguation) to Speedball. Here is my last message to you about the exact same thing when he/she did it the first time.

This user apparently does not read talk pages (or he/she would have seen the process of the move in the first place). What do you suggest should be done to keep this from happening again?

Pawn Game edit

Hey Enochlau, recently you deleted Pawn Game and I am not sure why. I do not know what (nn web) means, nor can I find it. I had permission from the owner etc... Hmm? Please do not permy delet it or anything (if you do) because I will reinstate it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pooshonmyshoos (talkcontribs) 07:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

It was deleted for being a non-notable web-related thing as per WP:CSD. Inclusion on Wikipedia is not subject to permission from the owner; instead, it has to meet a certain notability threshold that I believe this game does not meet. If you wish to seek its undeletion, go to WP:DRV. Do not simply recreate the article, because it will be subject to deletion again. enochlau (talk) 07:34, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Seeking your opinion edit

I hope you're enjoying your uni break =) I'm stopping by to ask you to see if you would be able to give a third opinion on the discussion at Talk:University_of_Sydney#Anti_democratic_action_.2F_Threats_against_students. It's a long discussion so I'll summarise it for you. A user, User:JUBALCAIN, had inserted a section into the University of Sydney article, and this was reverted by User:JPD; JUBALCAIN then brought it to the talk page for discussion. The problem that User:Sumple and I have with this section is that it is unreferenced (JUBALCAIN has attempted to provide evidence for the section, but we believe that they are at best, indirect, in that they prove a general problem with the medical students scheme), and adds an unsightly bias towards the article. In support of the section, JUBALCAIN has put forward arguments based on the Australian Constitution, and the supposed need for students to hear about the blasphemy that has been performed by their uni. After a lot of talk, he's starting to come around and found some stuff in Hansard, but it still doesn't prove the specific incident alleged. I was wondering if you would be able to help by commenting on the merits of the paragraph and the evidence provided by JUBALCAIN, as well as provide some guidance to the editors in the dispute. I try to be objective, but I am very well aware that both Sumple and I are at the University of Sydney, so an outside perspective would be good. Thanks. enochlau (talk) 13:23, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Onenote.png) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Onenote.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Deletion of 'The Sinister Forest' edit

You recently deleted an article by me, 'The Sinister Forest'.The obscurity of the subject makes finding web references difficult. They are a genuine band. Their only substantial mention on the web is on their "myspace", obviously not a satisfactory reference. If you could show us how to attain references from non web based sources maybe this genuine and important article could survive. The band is Australian, like you, and is representative of a growing underground music movement in the Mid North Coast of N.S.W. Thankyou, Tobias Cockerill (Danger101010)

Los Hermanos (Detroit) edit

You deleted my page. What a crass, harsh and downwardly mobile thing to do. Los hermanos are an important musical force, perhaps you have never heard of them? My article had as many references to external sources as many others in the electronic music gentre. Please refer to Mike Banks (musician), a similar artist, from the same city, a similar article, no external souces when i provided two, and the atricle is still there, why the inconsistancy?

Please remedy this immediately.Danielivatt 10:43, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm tempted to remedy the situation by deleting Mike Banks (musician). I stand by my original decision that the article could be speedily deleted per WP:CSD for being a musical group that does not meet notability standards. You may wish to consult WP:MUSIC. If you wish to contest the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 13:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great, yeah, delete Mike Banks. What a fine way to solve this issue. Mike Banks was the session bass player for Parliament and is one of the most important figures in modern music. So, yeah, he mustn't meet notability standards so let's delete him. Danielivatt 18:56, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Mike Banks was the session bass player for Parliament and is one of the most important figures in modern music." - yeh? Says who? Well write that into the article, with references. enochlau (talk) 21:28, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

C-130J Image Deletion Question edit

Hi, you deleted an image I uploaded, Image:C-130J_Co_Pilot's_Head-up_display.jpg. I completely understand the deletion, because at the time, what I thought was a Wiki-legitimate license was, in fact, not. However, I have just re-uploaded the image, after getting the author to change the image's license to cc-by-2.0, and I have now included that tag on the re-uploaded image page.

My question is this though: I did not see a way, in the licensing drop-down box, to show that the image is licensed in cc-by-2.0, and so I included the cc-by-2.0 tag on the iamge. Is this acceptable? There are no warnings on the page, but I just wanted to clear it with you.

The PLAYSTATION® Store was deleted edit

I wonder why my page was deleted. There is the Xbox Live Marketplace, and the Wii Shop Channel, why not the PLAYSTATION® Store? And plus I don't know what the comment "nn web" means. Please reply. Thank you.

DanB91 23:32, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"nn web" is a shorthand for "non-notable website", which may be deleted per WP:CSD. The article itself made no assertion of the notability, under the guidelines written at WP:WEB. Have a read of that, and if you have any questions, let me know, or if you wish to dispute the deletion, go to WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 13:32, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request for Link to NSW Non-Government School Page edit

Good afternoon,

I am writing on behalf of The Children's House Montessori Pre-school, a non-government pre-school situated in NSW, Sydney Australia.

We have a great website filled with informative information regarding our pre-school and it would be greatly appreciated if we could be added to the list of NSW Non-Government School's.

Our URL is: http://www.thechildrenshousemontessori.com.au/ Title: The Children's House Montessori Preschool Suburb: North Ryde Years: Pre-school Founded: 1974

Thanks for your assistance, please let us know the outcome.

Kindest Regards,

EventTracker deletion edit

Hi,

I noticed that you recently deleted my contribution on EventTracker, a log management software, referring to it as 'Spam'. I see, however, that are various other software entries on wikipedia which have been up and running for seomtime with no published resource citations. One of these is 'powerbuilder' after which i modelled my entry. I would like to know what excuses powerbuilder from deletion while event tracker has been deleted within a week of creation.

Harmala —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hfrancois (talkcontribs) 14:26, 26 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

The fact that there are similar articles does not necessarily mean that the subject matter that you wish to write about is suitable - it may be the case that the other articles you found were also worthy of deletion, or perhaps it is of less notability. It was deleted under criterion A7 of WP:CSD. Although it is still a proposed guideline, you may wish to consult Wikipedia:Notability (software) for guidance as to what constitutes notable software. At the time of deletion, the article did not make any assertions of notability, and I stand by my original decision. Booklyn entry/deletion edit

Hi - perhaps I went about this in the wrong way - I noticed that on the Artists' Books entry, there was a mention of Booklyn (a non-profit artists' book organization). But the link did not have any other information. I created a Booklyn entry by dropping in information from the Booklyn website as a short-cut to actually writing something, and it was subsequently deleted as an advertisement. That wasn't the intention - the text was from the non-prof mission statement. Booklyn is a bona-fide organization that helps artists to get their work out into the world, and I wonder if I should try to re-craft an entry for Booklyn to make it acceptable? Thanks. Kzrt 16:03, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Kzrt—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kzrt (talkcontribs) 16:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

At the time, it read like an advertisement (e.g. "This age of slick, offset, corporate-controlled publishing is also the age of photocopied zines, artist books, desktop publishing, and the small press. Booklyn’s mission is to encourage the proliferation and appreciation of people-made books as an antidote to industry-produced counterparts.") and it made no assertion of notability sufficient to meet guidelines such as at WP:CORP, and thus it was speedily deleted per WP:CSD. If you can find external references apart from its own website that suggest that it is a notable organisation, you could try rewriting an article that doesn't sound like an advertisement. Copying off their mission statement is not going to be ok. enochlau (talk) 00:41, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spamgourmet deletion edit

I notice that you deleted the page for Spamgourmet on October 7, 2006. I did not create or edit the page, but I am the administrator for spamgourmet, and, looking at it in the wayback machine, I can confirm that it was accurate. This is a real, spam fighting free disposable email service that has been around since the year 2000. The deletion log notes the word 'spam' next to the log entry - does this mean you considered the page spam? If so, I'd like to discuss that with you.

jqh 72.181.154.68 04:39, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is correct in that I considered the page to be advertising for a website that did not satisfy notability guidelines. If you wish to recreate the article, you may, if you keep in mind the guidelines at WP:WEB, or it will be deleted again per WP:CSD. If you wish to contest the deletion, you may do so at WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 10:29, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK - thanks. I may take it upon myself to recreate the article. I've read the guidelines, and I suppose that whoever created the deleted entry somehow did not conform to them, but I'm not sure how. When I do a wikipedia search for 'spamgourmet' now, I get "related" results that include an entry for another disposable email service (which was created years after spamgourmet) called Mailinator - should I use that entry as a style guide for how to create a new article that conforms to the guidelines? Or would you consider that entry to be spam also, but haven't deleted it yet? 209.243.104.107 23:46, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mailinator looks good. enochlau (talk) 02:24, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks -- the obvious solution of translating the existing German wikipedia article presented itself, and the result is actually quite different from the original English page, and more like the other example. Hopefully you'll agree. So, for the record, I didn't write the new page, but merely translated it, with Google's help.
