  Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:41, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Commenting on talk pages

edit

Hi there, I was just looking at your recent comment at Talk:Al-Qaeda and thought I'd give you some pointers about using talk pages. Firstly, it's customary to place new comments at the bottom of a discussion, so that a thread reads from the earliest message to the latest.

Secondly, it's also customary to use indentation when replying to others, by typing a colon at the start of your post. For example, typing this:

Comment by Dave
:Reply to Dave by Mike
::Reply by Dave
:::Further reply by Mike
:Reply to Dave's initial comment by Tom
:Reply to Dave's initial comment by Harry

looks like this:

Comment by Dave

Reply to Dave by Mike
Reply by Dave
Further reply by Mike
Reply to Dave's initial comment by Tom
Reply to Dave's initial comment by Harry

Hope this helps, happy editing. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 21:28, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
