Speedy deletion nomination of Ashley Bacon

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ashley Bacon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Notes

edit

I moved your new article to your userspace. Do not move this live until the issues have been dealt with. I'll leave you some notes in a minute, but wanted to quickly let you know not to re-add this again. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:05, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've moved the article to User:Endrit Ademi/Ashley Bacon. Here are my notes:

  • Sourcing should be in-line so that we can tell what source backs up what claim.
  • The sections need to be formatted akin to how they are with other articles.
  • There are large swaths of content that was added that isn't really pertinent to Bacon. An example of this is the detailed information about what a CRO does. Also, JP Morgan’s Integrated Risk Management Approach doesn't really pertain here unless this is specifically something that she came up with and is also heavily covered in independent and reliable sources. Some of this, because it comes across as off-topic, can come across as promotional, such as the phrase "JP Morgan values self-assessment and reporting a lot". The thing about non-pertinent data is that it doesn't really contribute to the understanding of who Bacon is, especially as it pertains more to JP Morgan than to Bacon itself. It's also generally unnecessary, as there is already an article on the topic of CROs that covers this and as such, there's no need to explain this job in the article.
When adding content, make sure that you are only adding content that is specifically and directly about Bacon. While yes, these are all things he does as part of his career this is also something that is assumed as a given and to be honest, the focus isn't on Bacon and his approach but rather JP Morgan Chase.

I've removed the off topic content, which left the article with only a relative few statements about Bacon, none of which really show where he's notable outside of JP Morgan Chase. Keep in mind that he is not automatically notable for working with the company and that in order to establish notability you must show where he has received coverage in independent and reliable sources such as newspaper articles about him. They must focus on him in specific and not in passing. Things like routine coverage such as database listings or primary sources can back up basic information but they cannot establish notability. Definitely read over this brochure on editing biography articles. You can add some of the other content back in, but this needs to be more specific to Bacon such as it being something he personally came up with, with independent reliable sources to justify highlighting it in detail.

Since the focus is more on JP Morgan Chase, you may want to see if some of the information that was specifically about the company could be added to the main article. Just remember that you should stick to the basics and make sure that you're not including language that could be seen as non-neutral or information that is seen as too overly detailed for Wikipedia's purposes. Take a look at this. A copyvio score of 30% isn't the end of the world, but it's just comparing your article with one of your sources. More of your own words please, fewer of JP Morgan's, please. Cabayi (talk) 22:21, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks for letting me know about this Cabayi! I've removed a lot of the content that wasn't about Bacon in specific, so I'll do a history delete to ensure that this isn't still in the article history. I think the student has a copy of this so I won't email them a copy unless they need me to. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:45, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
