Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Ronald-Sullivan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 19:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, how can I help? Andyreply 17:31, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can you tell me how long it takes before you can search for a page you've entered? Also, I'm trying to fix the pictures I forgot to add the copyright tag to, but can't seem to figure it out.

Emwd.len.hughes 17:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The search index is updated about every thirty hours (mailing list). Recent changes are not reflected until the next time the search index is updated.

As an alternative to Wikipedia's search function, you can use a the Google search engine. Simply append site:en.wikipedia.org to your query to search the English Wikipedia. As for the Go feature, article names are case sensitive. The "go" button usually masks this, but if an article name includes a mixture of capitalized and uncapitalized words a redirect is necessary.

With regards to the images you should select the correct copyright tag from Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/All and insert it in to the image page, to do this select the image from above and click the edit button add a new section called copyright and paste in the correct copyright tag. Andyreply 17:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I "think" I get it. I'll give it a try. Thank you.

Regarding your edits to Wikipedia:Introduction edit

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. Leuko 18:58, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}} I was told that my publish was a COI. I believe I've fixed that, but it also said that my article was uncategorized. How do I categorize my article?

Which article is it? Giggy Talk 23:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}} How can I help? (You may find it quicker to outline your problems when posting a help me tag) Vacant Stare 16:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I forgot. My page Eastern Municipal Water District keeps getting tagged for COI and References. I've looked up the link they provide and cannot figure out what they are referring to. I've also tried to compare our site with Metropolitan Water District and don't see the difference. Can you give me advise on how to get these tags to stop? I guess I could just delete the darn thing. Emwd.len.hughes 16:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:COI is a policy on Wikipedia that states that users who are intimately connected to the subject of the article should be very careful when editing that article. While it is not prohibited to do so, it is discouraged. I would suggest you ask the editor who tagged the page (User:Leuko) at his talk page what specific concerns he has, and if he would work with you to improve the article. henriktalk 18:17, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the tag as the editor who placed the tag has not bothered to substantiate their claim on the talk page as is required. Aside from that, I go along with Henrik's comment. (Update) Please also see the article's talk page, where I have initiated a discussion. To me the tagging is most unfair, goes against WP:AGF and doesn't even follow the guidelines set out in WP:COI Vacant Stare 20:50, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
