Orphaned non-free media (Image:Husain2.jpg) edit

  Thanks for uploading Image:Husain2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:58, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{help|how to crop a image?. i mean english wikki have one image. i don't want to add my native wikki full part of that image. i want to use that image without reuplod.plz help me}}

If you want to crop an image, you'll have to open it up in an image editor on your computer, such as Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop. Once you have saved the cropped version, go to the page of the image you want to replace (For example, Image:Example.png - this page can be reached by clicking on the image you want to replace where it appears in an article.). Near the bottom of the page, there should be a light blue link that says "Upload a new version of this file". Click that. After that point, it's almost exactly like uploading a new image. If all the licenses are the same, you do not need to select one for the new image - the old one will still apply. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any questions! When placing the image in the article, if you add "|thumb|caption" after the "Image:Example.png" bit, you'll get a smaller version of the image with a caption describing what it is. For example: [[File:Bad Title Example.png|thumb|caption]] will create the image at right.

caption
. The actual Example image is much larger, which you can see by clicking on it. Is this what you wanted? Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe there is any way to do that on MediaWiki. The <img> html tag is disabled for security reasons. In order to crop the image, you'll have to upload a new version. Sorry. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:12, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Wamyposter.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Wamyposter.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
