Speedy deletion nomination of User:Emman369 edit

A tag has been placed on User:Emman369 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Adding references can be easy edit

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.

Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "Templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
  4. Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
  5. Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
  6. Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
  • Before clicking on Publish changes, check that a References header   ==References==   is near the end of the article.
  • And check that   {{Reflist}}    is directly underneath that header.
7.  Click on Publish changes. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.

You can read more about this on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.
Hope this helps, --John from Idegon (talk) 01:24, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:2nd Principal - School of Arts and Science, Uyo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:2nd Principal - School of Arts and Science, Uyo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 23:46, 14 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello Whpq, both image files for the pioneer and 2nd principals of School of Arts and Science, Uyo were sent to me via Whatsapp by Prince Otu Nyong - son to the 2nd principal whom I know personally. I actually lived with the 2nd principal and his family on campus at some point while attending the school. Prince Otu Nyong sent me those images specifically for use in the informational article I compiled about the school. Should I email a snapshot of the whatsapp messages I exchanged with Prince Otu in mid 2018 about those images to permissions-en@wikimedia.org? Or should I send email to Prince Otu, cc permissions-en@wikimedia.org and ask him to reply All in affirmation? Would that meet the requirements for free use? Please advise. Whpq Emman369 (talk) 00:47, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
The owner of the copyright on a photo is generally the photographer. You'd need permission from the photographer. The person who sent it to you may have that information but unless he is the photographer his permission is irrelevant. Also, there is really no reason to have a picture of a person on an article about a school. John from Idegon (talk) 01:52, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Ok John, I will try my best to contact the photographer via Prince Otu (who sent the pictures) for his/her permission but I have a good feeling the photographer of the pioneer principal had passed away considering the age of that picture. I don't understand what you mean by "there is really no reason to have a picture of a person on an article about a school." If that was true, how come Hope Waddell Training Institution - a junior secondary school in that region has a picture of a person in their wikipedia article? The file File:Pioneer Principal - School of Arts and Science, Uyo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Invalid public domain reasoning

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. On July 19 2019, the image copyright holder sent an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with a cc to me regarding this file. His email specifically said "I Otu-ekong Bassey Nyong is the owner and copyright holder of the image described as: 2nd Principal - School of Arts and Science, Uyo.jpg. I hereby grant Wikipedia the right of possession of the above described image donated by me and have my permission to make unlimited printed or developed photographs, for their personal or commercial use". I have recently notified him on September 13 2019 to send another permission email to same wikimedia email address stating ownership of the material and his intention to publish it under a free license but this time using wikipedia's sample permission letter found here. He agreed to send the second email on or before September 16 2019. Emman369 (talk)

Your draft article, Draft:School of Arts and Science edit

Hello, Emman369. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "School of Arts and Science".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 18:08, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
