Non-free files in your user space edit

Hey there Emd001, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Emd001/OFIS Architects. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:12, 9 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Football stadium maribor 05.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Football stadium maribor 05.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:32, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with your uploads edit

Thanks for uploading files however while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of these files agreed to license them under the given license. I also notice you had marked some of them as {{Non-free architectural work}} and than changed licensing to {{PD-self}}.

If these files have been previously published online, please either:

  • Have the copyright holder make a note at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication (You have listed it as www.ofis.si) to permissions-en wikimedia.org. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

With either choice the company must clearly state their ownership of the materials and, if the current license is correct, their intention to release all copyright claims by releasing the materials into the Public domain.

If you are not the copyright holder and believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as the one you had previously used ({{Non-free architectural work}}) or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Non-free, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described at criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 13:52, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Špela Videčnik (OFIS Architects) edit

The article Špela Videčnik (OFIS Architects) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I cannot find any sources to demonstrate that this person is sufficiently notable for inclusion per WP:BIO. Whilst the practice is notable, that does not automatically mean that the founders also are.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SmartSE (talk) 14:02, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your edits edit

Hi, sorry for the many messages above. There are a few issues that need to be resolved regarding your edits though. Firstly the images you have uploaded appear to be copyrighted, which means that they will be deleted unless the images can be released under a creative commons licence. If you are able to get the copyright holder to release the images, please first read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials and be aware that the images can be used by anyone for any purpose once they are released. If you are happy with this, please then send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org listing the images that you have uploaded and a volunteer will verify that they have been donated and they can be kept.

Secondly, another editor has raised a concern that you may have a conflict of interest regarding OFIS Architects. Per our guideline on this matter, you should refrain from editing the article in the future and should ideally only make suggestions on the talk page. I'll do some editing to make the article more compliant with our neutrality and promotional guidelines shortly. If you wish, you can comment at Wikipedia:COIN#OFIS_Architects where I was alerted to this. Please let me know if you have any queries. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 14:39, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Status and Advice edit

The article OFIS Architects was nominated for speedy deletion by another editor. You should have been notified, & on behalf of the encyclopedia , I apologize for the discourtesy. But, as reviewing admin, I think this basically informative, and not entirely promotional, so the speedy deletion was declined. You will notice I made some editing. Please look at those edits, forthey removed the sort of material that often leads people to think an article promotional. You don't need to use adjectives and statement of importance--it is better to show it. Smartse gave you good advice, but it was not exact. You are advised not to edit yourself, but you are permitted to do so if you can edit objectively according to our guidelines. From what you have been writing, I think you can.

The information about copyright that has been given you is totally correct . You must explicitly license the rights to the material according to our licensing. You should do so as soon as you introduce the material, say so on the image documentation p., and send in the necessary permission immediately. We are always glad to receive freely-licensed high resolution images of important structures. Please consider contributing them to WP:COMMONS, where they can--and will-- be used by all the different language Wikipedia projects. DGG ( talk ) 16:47, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I've read through a lot of the discussions of the OFIS page etc. The image licensing was a bit difficult to get my head around but I will sort that within the next day, so thanks for the advice on that part. A couple of things I'd like to ask though in reference to what was deleted, it appears most of it has been kept however this was deleted

"The beginnings of OFIS’ activities dates back to the nineties, which was a particularly exciting yet difficult period for the former Yugoslavian republics that were undergoing intense self-re-evaluation and reinvention from scratch, economically and culturally. In terms of architecture this meant that most of the larger architectural offices had to be scaled down or went bankrupt and so creating an empty space for younger groups or individuals to participate in architectural competitions."

and I'm not too sure I understand why? Is it only that it would require a reference? Also the sections, selected exhibitions, lectures, competitions were deleted is this a reference thing as well or is there another reason.

I'm also not too sure why I understand the project gallery was deleted, was there too many images or were these seen as promotional? Sorry for all the questions, but just trying to get to grips with this. Emd001 (talk) 10:53, 17 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

February 2011 edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to OFIS Architects. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 18:32, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
