editOnline Ambassador - Chzz the Great
editMy username is Chzz, and I'll be your online mentor for the remainder of the course.
We have just a few weeks left, during which I would like to help you a) improve the article, and b) to get more from your Wikipedia experience.
Within the next few days, I will review the article, and provide suggestions and feedback. I'll do that on the article talk page, and I'll also let you know right here. I'll be very happy to directly assist in improving it, too.
If there is anything specific that you think I can do, to help you in any way, please let me know. Please leave a note on my talk page.
I look forward to working with you. Best, Chzz ► 03:11, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. Please keep an eye on Talk:Education policy in Brazil - I will be asking for others to help us out, and to provide comments on that page. If you can fix issues raised - great, go for it. If you need help, ask; you could put {{helpme}} right here with a question, or as on help desk, or contact me on my talk. There's lots of us here all wanting to make better Wikipedia articles, hence plenty of help is available - it's makes good sense to utilise these resources, to help each other. Be bold and fix what you can, but if you're stuck, ask. Thanks, Chzz ► 03:39, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

- Hey Chzz - I posted your (obviously very capable) mentee a proper "Uploadvirus"-type welcome on the Talk:Education policy in Brazil page, and will be providing what suggestions and help I can during the remainder of out time. Your friend:Cliff L. Knickerbocker, MS (talk) 23:32, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Elizabetsyatbu, regarding refs (and named refs), this may help;
How references work |
---|
Simple referenceseditThese require two parts;
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
== References == {{reflist}} (an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections) To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Elizabetsyatbu/reftest and try it out. Named referenceseditChzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook"> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/> Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result. Citation templateseditYou can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look; Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation | last = Smith | first = John | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century | publication-date = 2001 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]] | page = 125 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4 }} </ref> Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result. For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs. |

Nice to see the progress
editHiya, I'm kinda 'stalking' your edits, but in a nice way - and I'm pleased to see things are going well.
Please do try to remember to add an edit summary with each edit.
There's actually an option in preferences under the 'editing' tab, to Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary - it's a good idea to enable that, really.
Remember you can always say 'hi' to me if you like, here. And of course, leave a message on my talk page with any queries.
Keep up the good work :-) Chzz ► 00:34, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
spacing and % , and images
editChzz ► 02:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Good stuff; keep at it. perfection is not required, all articles are "work in progress" - it'll get better over time, with input from others (we hope). Don't worry too much about tone etc. - it really is quite easy to fix (and I can help with that). In fact, don't worry too much about anything - best attitude here is to 'have a go'. It's a wiki, so easily edited :-)
- If I can add one more tip: it may be helpful to add a little context background on education in brazil in general (not policy specific) - so that the casual reader is informed (briefly) of their edu system - in terms of what age kids go to school, what age (average) people leave, % that go on to higher ed, or whatever. That may mean duplicating some parts of Education in Brazil - but that's fine; that is perfectly allowed - and hey, that article might have ready-made refs for a summary of 'education in Brazil', which helps.
- ¡Anímate! (google tells me this is Brazilian/Spanish for 'go for it' :-) Chzz ► 03:09, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
two tables is better than one :p
editHeh, sorry, I did this - trying to help - but you'd already put one underneath. So take your pick; no worries :-) I was just trying to show how to force image size and wrapping - which is probably appropriate for that table. 03:39, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Sweet :) I was just going to ask how to do that.Elizabetsyatbu (talk) 03:58, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Whilst not wishing to be 'pushy', those sort of issues are easier if we're chatting live - but, srsly, if you don't want to, that is cool too. linky. Chzz ► 03:59, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
It was charming to 'meet' you; I wish you all the very best, and I hope we will stay in touch. Chzz ► 05:39, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Interwiki links
editI added some stuff in Talk:Education_policy_in_Brazil#Interlanguage_Links. Cheers, Chzz ► 09:01, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks :) I have made a section on this page just for you, if you want to post there. Or you can just post at the end, and I might move your comments to keep track :)Elizabetsyatbu (talk) 20:38, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- How incredibly well-organized! However, I warn you - people will disregard the layout, and simply paste at the end. You can then, of course, re-factor it as you wish. But at some stage, you might find it better to move the old comments you want to keep into a user subpage (like User_talk:Elizabetsyatbu/useful stuff or something) which you could either link to, or "transclude and collapse" on this page. And what I mean by the latter is, if - for example - I put this here;
{{collapse top|My useful stuff}} {{User:Chzz/Example page}} {{collapse bottom}}
...then it will show the content of the page User:Chzz/Example page within a collapsed thingy, like this;
My useful stuff

Introduction paragraphs in your articles
editDear Students, please a look at the introduction of your articles and have a read of WP:LEDE. I noticed some of the articles did not have the most well developed introduction paragraphs. Also, please remember to stick to a neutral point of view. This means no prescriptions and no suggestions. Have a look at WP:NPOV for more information. Thanks! Invitation to take part in a study
editI am a Wikipedian, who is studying the phenomenon on Wikipedia. I need your help to conduct my research on about understanding "Motivation of Wikipedia contributors." I would like to invite you to Main Study. Please give me your valuable time, which estimates about 20 minutes. Your recent edits
editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:58, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:33, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
