Copyrighted images

Hi Eleamf! Please do not add copyrighted images to Wikipedia which can be replaced by free images, such as the picture of Avi Bnayahu. The picture does not satisfy the criteria of WP:NONFREE for inclusion, and will likely be deleted from Wikipedia this week. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 07:14, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi again! The fact that you serve in the unit can actually be very helpful in clearing the copyright status of many IDF images. However, please note that giving permission to use an image on Wikipedia does not make it legal (or free). Instead, the image has to be free. That is, the Spokesperson's Unit must agree for the image to be free for use on any website under any circumstances (including, for instance, the Hamas website). Only then can it legally be used on Wikipedia. If such permission is granted, we at Wikipedia would extremely appreciate it if the copyright information would be placed on the IDF website itself (www.idf.il), not in words, because if you only get personal permission to use certain images, you must first verify this with some people at Wikimedia Commons, which is a time-consuming process. For more information, please review Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright and Wikipedia:Non-free content. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 07:43, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
