Jeff edit

Thank you for your kind note. I believe that everything has been done that can be done. I'm dreadfully sorry for you loss. Please feel free to ask if I can help in anyway. Pedro :  Chat  Is grieving 13:02, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Locking pages edit

Yes, it can be done. Which page would you like locked, User talk:Jeffpw? Useight (talk) 20:47, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes the Jeffpw page (i don't know how to link in wiki as ive only never done anything here before yesterday sorry)is the one Eleanor would like to leave up, but locked. Could it be locked on Monday? She thought originally having it done now would be good but as word spreads more folks seem to leave tributes and she decided that leaving them the weekend would be good. Can you lock it for her on Monday? Do you need an email or something from her or debbie or is this enough of a formal request? El's friend (talk) 21:18, 9 August 2008 (UTC)El's friend HollyReply

I would ask that we give pause before protecting that page. I'll analyse and respond shortly. Pedro :  Chat  Is grieving 21:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've made a rather unilateral decision. Jeff's talk page is now protected, meaning only administrators can edit it. The main content is now at User talk:Jeffpw/Memoriam which is open to the Wikipedia community to leave messages on. I hope this helps. I'm sure Jeff would have wished that is be this way - he believed in open editing.Pedro :  Chat  Is grieving 22:33, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much Pedro. Eleanor thinks it's wonderful. Thank you so very much. El's friend (talk) 00:10, 10 August 2008 (UTC)El's friend HollyReply

Jeff edit

Thank you for your note. I am very glad that Jeff's mum can have that picture, it was a very happy moment for both of us.

I still think of Jeff virtually every day. I have never cried so hard for a lost friend, which is strange given we only met once and knew each other primarily through the Internet. It's just hard to believe some days that he is actually gone and I'm never going to be lectured about the beauty of Shirley Bassey or told about how the Empress of Iran replied to his letter for the seven hundreth time. ;) I will remember him fondly.
