file upload

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Erwin_Gabathuler_at_CERN_1977_-_CERN_record_7707075.jpg#filelinks Eeekster, thanks for reviewing my photo upload. When uploading, I paid attention to the copyright conditions and cross-checked with CERN's licence, filled in the wizard as appropriate, and thought everything was OK. You say that "it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status" - I thought that I provided all of this - could you double check or maybe be more specific for me, please? Thanks. Aldernodules (talk) 18:42, 30 April 2012 (UTC) — (talkcontribs) 18:28, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

You didn't put a license tag on the page. Eeekster (talk) 18:36, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Eeekster, sorry for plagueing you, but is this, along with the other answers provided, not sufficient:

"Licensing 1.CERN provides the image free of charge for educational and informational use http://copyright.web.cern.ch/" (Apologies, I'm quite a newbie.) Aldernodules (talk) 19:46, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

No, we need one of our templates on the page. Is that so hard to do? Eeekster (talk) 19:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your guidance and patience. Aldernodules (talk) 20:25, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure how you want me to put a new "section" in this talk page but in any case. The file you think should be speedily deleted belongs to a website that I designed and own. I'm not sure how you want me to prove this to you but let me know. I'm trying to complete a project for school so I am using my own work. Thanks. JamesBell-NJITWILL (talk) 01:43, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

The new section button doesn't work for you? Eeekster (talk) 02:17, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

_______ Please delete my Ulster Scots PDF file. I accidentally uploaded the wrong one and can't figure out how to delete the PDF version. Thanks! Pete unseth (talk) 21:44, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Insult slap

Re: this, surely someone should be petitioning the developers of Twinkle to add a feature to fix the citations instead of just tagging the page. ;-) --MZMcBride (talk) 00:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

If I had time and energy to fix them myself, I would. Eeekster (talk) 03:07, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

In re: File:J Ross Baughman.jpg, File:Jross baughman rhodesia pulitzer01.jpg, Jross baughman rhodesia pulitzer03.jpg

Permissions letters have been sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org by the owner of the photos and tags updated. Hopefully this satisfies the requirements. Sorry for the hassle. The advisory sent to my Talk page was very helpful in consolidating the information needed to do this properly. --Romansperson (talk) 23:30, 5 May 2012 (UTC) Why are you repeatedly vandalising my paige and giving me warnings when im and trying to creat and improve my wep paige i did nothing wrong and just tring to make a paige on a meaningfull subject and every time i try to improve it i find it hase been deleted if you dont stop i and remove your warnings i will report you for vandalism compulsive deletion and abuse of power

I apologize if the entry appears too autobiographical; I welcome any suggestions you have. But the governmental position of "Solicitor General" is a well-accepted category on Wikipedia. This is a truly informational (not autobiographical) entry. John 74.9.147.160 (talk) 10:11, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Copyright

How do I get into image description page to edit it? and supply proper copyright info.

Thanks for your note. Marilyn Nix (talk) 03:35, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)You simply hit the edit button as you do on any page and edit it. Hope that helps.—cyberpower ChatOffline 03:37, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Twinkle not leaving notices on user talk pages

Hey, I noticed in a few recent edits you did while on new pages patrol that Twinkle wasn't leaving notices about the deletion on any of the user's talk pages. It's entirely possible this is a Twinkle hiccup, but I thought I'd let you know about it. Thanks! elektrikSHOOS (talk) 02:57, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

The API server seems to be having problems. Eeekster (talk) 02:59, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually, TWINKLE doesn't have a revert and warn function like HUGGLE, so you have to revert and then remember to place a warning template. - Zhou Yu (talk) 03:00, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I noticed that as well. Several tagging/deletion notices I was attempting to post weren't going through, either. (Which actually makes me wonder if I've passed up a few tags as well.) Also, Zhou Yu, I was referring to adding CSD tags to pages, from which Twinkle is supposed to automatically place a notice on the user's talk page. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 03:02, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, that. Yes, I noticed that myself, but only if requesting speedy deletion of a user's talk page. - Zhou Yu (talk) 03:06, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Hotel WiFi isn't helping either ;) Eeekster (talk) 03:13, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Don't even get me started on hotel wifi. It's just universally terrible.   elektrikSHOOS (talk) 03:22, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Matthaeus Platearius

Please do not edit a page when the "in use" template is showing. It means that the page is undergoing construction and the idea is to avoid conflict. Thanks Paul venter (talk) 07:25, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

After almost three hours since the last edit I do not choose to honor such templates. If you are that concerned about edit conflicts, draft the article in user space first. Eeekster (talk) 17:21, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of the file: Nawab MIK Circa 1935?

Hello,

"Definitely" not my own work? Is that what you're truly suggesting Sir? I urge you not to be so ignorant in hastily wiping the file. Uploading such photographs and coding all day for an article takes significant effort, whilst I also understand that you yourself have an arduous task at hand but please do not doubt an iota of me for the gentleman portrayed is my Great Grandfather and I don't need to claim any other superficial right to have his portrait uploaded. It was actually taken using my own SLR camera, then cropped. This large portrait originally clings on to the walls of my Great Grandfather's Castle, 15 feet high hence you may have already perceived that a scan is not as convenient. I took this photograph last month and if you need the authentic file, I will gladly send it to you whereby you may go through all the requisite details that you fancy. I leave you with such a message because it is not easy finding the same photograph, as these are authentic "one-off's" of a bygone era hence I request you to keep the file afloat. I shall wholeheartedly appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Mohammad Musa Khan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MMKhan22 (talkcontribs) 12:02, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

So what you are saying is that you took a photo of someone else's work? Eeekster (talk) 14:42, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Fluconazole

re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluconazole Thanks for the correction on not removing dead links--I'm relatively new to this, so wasn't aware of that convention. The bigger problem with the Resistance section of that page is that I think the content is inaccurate. I suspect the person who originally put the text there is confused on the meaning of "resistance" (i.e., the antibiotic doesn't work on that microorganism). The sentence itself doesn't even make sense ("most species of antimicrobial potency are resistant"...??) What's the appropriate next step in editing? Thanks, CloverMD (talk) 23:31, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

The best thing is to discuss it on the article's talk page. It'd also be nice to find some real information on resistance (with sources) to add to the article. It certainly is a topic that should be included. Eeekster (talk) 23:38, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kawasaki H2 750cc Orange.jpg

What's with the "Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kawasaki H2 750cc Orange.jpg"? It came off a Flickr page that had a "Creative Commons" listing. --Bridge Boy (talk) 03:48, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Go read the listing again. It's too restrictive for Wikipedia. Eeekster (talk) 03:58, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Listen, I am new to this game and, like the rest of you, going out of my way to work for free on this thing. It is incredible bitty and complex to work out and the form for uploading images is not exactly helpful. Can you update it to include which specific licenses are OK ... and just tell me. There are so many relative pages that I cannot even find out what where.
One second piece of advice and request. When someone is working for free it benefits the project if they are asked and assisted first instead of threatened for what is an honest, innocent mistake (in my case I specifically spent time searching for a creative commons.
To receive a notice saying "blah blah blah ... blatant copyright infringement ... blocked from editing" in the first place is discouraging.
  • Why not just ask in the first place/infringement?
Fine, threaten persistent offenders but perhaps many individuals like me just make an innocent mistake and need help rather than batted down? Is there an alternative message, or can that one be edited to say something like, "you appear to have made a mistake, can we help you understand which licenses you can use ... and here is a link to a list of them?" I don't know to whom or what to suggest that to the right person, but would like to ask you to do so.
Act polite like you were in real life and don't come on like some stuck up cop. Thank you--Bridge Boy (talk) 10:14, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Bump. --Bridge Boy (talk) 05:48, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry but could I have an explanation? Thanks. --Bridge Boy (talk) 22:29, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
The license says "no commercial use" and that doesn't fit here. Eeekster (talk) 22:31, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Expatshoring

Hello Eeekster. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Expatshoring to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 11:30, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of page Ringgold Inc

Sorry Eeekster. I should have left this in my user sand box longer. I need to read the rest of the rule on submission importance. After finding many pages on other database publishers, I was submitting a page to discuss the Identify Institution Identifier they create. It is now submitted and under consideration as USA national (ISO) identifiers and NISO stadard identifers for the rest of the world. In you opinion, would that information, discussion of the Identifier and it's use in the Journal supply chain, make the page important enough to post? Thanks. {{notability}} vs {{refimprove}}

Hi. You slapped The Last Voyage of Somebody the Sailor with a {{notability}} tag. The quickest of Google searches turns up a large number of hits, as does a Google Books search. The book can effortlessly be shown to be notable. In such a case, where the article is clearly notable but merely lacks references, {{refimporve}} would be the appropriate template (it was marked as a stub already, after all). Feilding

Hi there

You removed a link to www.myfeilding.co.nz on the external links section as I guess you think it is a business page. In that case, there is one called "Homeprint" in the "historical buildings" section. That probably needs to come off too.

Speedy Deletion?

Hello Eeekster.

I uploaded 2 photos from my pc onto my page.

File:Innovation of Sound - The Science of Life back cover.jpg

and

File:Innovation of Sound - The Science of Life front cover.jpg

Both of these were nominated for speedy deletion yet I own both of these photographs. They were taken at my house with my own camera. Did I do something wrong on the upload? and how do I go about getting them back on the page.

Regards.

Matt. ( TopCat17 08:24, 29 May 2012 (UTC))
