Your RFA edit

I'm afraid that your RFA has no chance of success. You have less than a 1000 edits and less than 100 in project space. This is well below the expected standards of most RFA voters and you will quickly end up with a lot of opposes. This is not a reflection on you but on the high standards that many users hold for admins. May I suggest that you withdraw the RFA to avoid unnecessary unpleasantness (some of the reasons will be quite rough) and spend some time lurking around RFA to get a feel for what is expected? Cheers Spartaz Humbug! 11:28, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I should like to add my agreement with Spartaz's comments. When you think you have received enough good reasons for opposing, and helpful suggestions on what would make your chances better, and before things go sour, it would be best to withdraw your request. It would serve you better to do some more editing, to contribute to talkpages, and to get WP to remind you if you do not add to your edit summary. There is nothing wrong in recognising that your request is too premature, and is likely to be regarded as a good move in a future RfA. Happy editing. LessHeard vanU 20:04, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Your RFA has now dropped to less than 15% support. I recommend withdrawal now, or very soon. I will handle it if you want me to. Anonymous DissidentTalk 04:47, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not afraid to lose! I'm ready to face whatever result! --Edmundkh 05:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Edmundkh, I've closed your RfA early. At only 3 supports and 16 opposes, there's no way it could pass. I would advise that you take it as a learning experience, and continue to contribute actively for a few more months before reapplying. Consider getting an editor review to find out what other users think of your work so far; participate in article writing and maintenance; consider doing recent changes and new page patrolling; basically, just get more involved, because it's fun! Please ask me if you have any questions regarding anything. Best wishes, ~ Riana 06:16, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I look forward to supporting you in a couple of months time. Happy editing. LessHeard vanU 12:20, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Essjay Controversy edit

Please see our policy on avoiding self references. I know you thought they were relevant links, but you shouldn't assume that the reader is using Wikipedia --Laugh! 11:48, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the photo as well. The article is about the controversy, not the person. There was a very lengthy discussion about including a photograph of Essjay in the article which you can read in the talk page archives; at the end of the day, since only one media source used a photo of the person, and it was simply an oblique view of his Wikia userpage on television in the background, there is no grounds to believe that independent reliable sources feel that what he looks like is important. Indeed, it isn't. Risker 12:55, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, no. I don't expect them to see a photo of Essjay at all. Because, even though his actions were at the root of the controversy, the article is about the external perception of his actions. You must remember that his photo only ever appeared on his page for a very brief time, while he was a Wikia employee. It wasn't ever there at the same time as his professorial claims. It wasn't there when the New Yorker reporter was interviewing him. And even though it was there during the period when media interest was the highest, only one media outlet thought it was important enough to include (very peripherally) in their story. There is no good reason to add it, and lots of good reasons not to. Whatever else people think of Essjay, he is still a person and WP:BLP must still be taken into consideration. Risker 11:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Logo of Wikia edit

A tag has been placed on Logo of Wikia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. We generally don't create articles just to list logos. ZimZalaBim talk 00:54, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

It hasn't been deleted yet, and I don't know why you asked me about it, since I didn't tag it or have anything else to do with it. It just needs to have a {{fair use rationale}} written for it. Daniel Case 02:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

request for help on zh.wiktionary edit

Hello Edmundkh, we have just opened a dicussion on the interwiki bot and interwiki links at Meta. We are trying to reach first the larger wiktionaries and then eventally all of them to notify them of the dicussion (m:Interwiki.py/Wiktionary_functionality_discussion). Are you active now, and if so would you be willing to post a short notice about the discussion over there on in their general dicussion area, along with a call for help translating the dicussion as needed? The best place to reach me is on my user page at wikt:User:ArielGlenn. Thanks for your time, ArielGlenn 23:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spanish Wikipedia edit

I've thought about it at various points, and I might still do so. My Spanish is a little more conversational than encylcopediac, but editing Spanish Wikipedia might help me practice. Right now, though, English Wikipedia takes up a lot of my time! Natalie 17:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

That did not occur to me. Perhaps I will... Natalie 18:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Persian (Farsi) Wikipedia edit

I am still hesitant to create an account on the Persian Wikipedia because my Farsi is not only very minimal but I don't even have one character of the Farsi alphabet down. Also as far as boxes, I think that it would be a bit redundant if I only place one box due to the only language I can speak confidently enough is English :P...¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 18:45, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wiktionary name change edit

I do not oppose this change of name; matching up with your name on other WMF projects seems like a good reason for such a change in anticipation of Single User Logins. Nevertheless, since my activity in Wiktionary has been limited recently, I would be loath to exercise bureaucrat privileges immediately when someone has already objected to the change. I note too that you have made a similar request of other bureaucrats, any of whom can also respond. If there is no further response in the next week, I will be glad to accede to your request. PS: I see that the changes have been made in numerous other projects. That will certainly influence my future actions. Ec

Notability of MuslimWiki edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on MuslimWiki, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because MuslimWiki is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting MuslimWiki, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Revo-merah-putih.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Revo-merah-putih.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:55, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rtmlogo5.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:RTMlogo5.jpg. The copy called Image:RTMlogo5.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 08:00, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
