Jean-Baptiste Hachème
Hey, hope you had a happy new year. I'll review the article but once it gets near the top of its section. I don't want to review an article that was just nominated with so many other nominations before it. Please contact me again when it gets near the top and I'll try to take a look at it. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 07:42, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: 1964 Gabon coup
Hi EDTW, sorry I haven't had time to get to the source-checking yet. I would still like to work on it someday, but unfortunately I am going to be pretty busy for the next couple months and I think this might be too large of a commitment for me to complete by February 17, so you might want to look for another editor to work on it if you want it to make the main page on time. Deepest apologies, Politizer talk/contribs 14:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Drum screenshot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. --Dravecky (talk) 09:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations to you and Malleus on the Hubert Maga article, its looking very informative now. Good news by Bradt Guide to Benin has arrived and although not an inspiring book with its lack of pictures and high amount of hotel and restaurant coverage it has some info to expand some of the city stubs. The Bald One White cat 17:36, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm impressed. I've also flickr mailed a user on Flickr called UXrocks to request to use his images. Search for Parakou on flickr and you'll see his images. The images of the pink column, fortress-like mosque, grand market etc would be essential pieces for understanding the articles from the text I think. Someday wikipedia may be more professional and hire people to visit these places and take photographs? Well one can only dream I suppose... The Bald One White cat 18:12, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
You have to admit though its sometimes a little frustrating how narrow minded many people are to the rest of the world. Just look at the DYK page now for sinance, every one of them is United States, Australia and UK. While of course these contributions are much appreciated and needed its quite sad really that a lot of people aren't willing to branch out and take more of an active interest in other countries and cultures. Of course we have contributors on zillions of topics and interests all over the world but you know what I mean about sheer numbers who only edit articles on the countries above and disproportion. You put Drum on hold until January 10. Today is January 11. There is nothing more (at least that I know of) that can help expand the article. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 17:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- On hold for another 7 days. I've done a little bit of work on it to show examples of how the article can be developed further. The reviews here may help you with material, both in terms of writing about the critical response, and in terms of building up the Plot section. I will help out in writing the article when I can. There's no rush for me to make a final decision on the article, as long as work is being done in a positive direction I'm happy to keep the review open. I'll only close when either I feel it meets the GA criteria, or when you and/or I truly feel no more positive work can be done in a reasonable time frame. I stumbled upon it by accident by trying it in French. I came across the population site by accident via Swedish wikipedia. I;ve amazed myself that I not only managed to find the communes but also population! But its easier if you work by region using the population site. The official site is linked as it is in the middle of compiling data which may be accesssed later. Hubert Maga's GAN
Is it your intention to continue working on this article? The GA review has been open for some considerable time now, and it's about time we looked to wrapping it up. Some work remains to be done in explaining Dahomey's political and tribal history, as pointed in the review. Is that something you're able to attend to? --Malleus Fatuorum 00:14, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Mali and Mauritania
Remember I said about Mali only having 64 places? Well I'v ebeen doing some research and have found a list of 703 communes of Mali and population. So pretty soon we will have Mauritania and Mali covered adminstratively. Wanna help? Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:34, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Check out Gory Gopela a commune of Mali I just started. Surprised that something could be found on it? I;ve been doing some more research and have found this. Probably about 400 of the communes once started could be written into equally long articles. Good isn't it. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:10, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Yep its great news. It has means something that we "know" most of the communes can be expanded fully instantly afterwards rather than rmeaining sub stubs for ages. Just googling a number of them it seems there are numerous sources available in places, largely due to the amount of aid that takes place in Mali. Eventually I feel sure the world over will have this eventually and other African countries but we have to take each country at a time as the info comes available. Anyway I've created the first template at Template:Communes of the Kayes Region Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:14, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
You could help by adding external links in the new commune articles to the individual USAID pages from the link I provided you. This way when I come back later, the link is directly there to begin expanding them. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:26, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Soon enough we will have hold of the 303 communes of Guinea too. The official site is under construction. Things are really starting to happen on here as the African elite gradually join the twenty-first century. Hopefully governments on places in Africa will increasingly publish things online. Dr. Blofeld White cat 23:20, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sidi-Saïd
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sidi-Saïd, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- This article only has one sentence and does not list the significance of the town.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Almax999 00:34, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, well speedy works too. I tried to look for a speedy category for it at first, but couldn't find one, so instead I prodded it. I'm okay with speedy though.--Almax999 01:05, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- There might be such a thing on the French Wikipedia. But on the English Wikipedia, I don't think I've ever seen one.--Almax999 03:31, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- On the French Wikipedia, I was able to find fr:Modèle:Suppression Immédiate. I think this is a speedy tag for the French Wikipedia.--Almax999 03:35, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Port Alexa
You created the above article on 25 April 2008. I am curious as to your source as I am trying to find its coordinates. Plus a settlement named Port #NAME is rather odd for Zimbabwe! Babakathy (talk) 07:08, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure actually! The site you cite has a list of locations only, and none of its links can find Port Alexa. Google only gives lists also. I'm not aware of any other settlements in Zimbabwe named port and the only navigable waterways in Mashonaland West Province are the Zambezi River and Lake Kariba. Settlements along these are few and easy to enumerate (the lake and river frontage are mainly unsettled protected areas). Babakathy (talk) 02:29, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I actually was researching Port Alexa in the hope of adding some material and coordinates to a stub. But there is no information out there. I cannot even find a single web page (except lists) that refer to Port Alexa and either Zim or Mashonaland. My personal experience in Mashonaland West gives me no inkling of its existence either.
