Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Edewolbock. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Wolbock Family, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. {{u|Zchrykng}} {T|C} 01:31, 22 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Wolbock Family edit

The article Wolbock Family has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Entirely unsourced WP:OR

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Flibustier edit

Hello Edewolbock,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Flibustier for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

I left an answer on : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Flibustier --Edewolbock (talk) 01:02, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Edewolbock. I have declined the speedy deletion that was nominated, because the article does not meet the criteria for WP:A1, but there are many problems remaining - especially the lack of any outside references. (Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference.) You could find some references by Googling flibustier. In the meantime there is still a likelihood that the article could be deleted. If you like, I will move it out of the encyclopedia and into your private user area, where you can improve it at your leisure without the danger of it being deleted. Would you like me to do this? You can reply here; I will see it. --MelanieN (talk) 01:46, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Melanie, thank you for your comprehension. Yes, please you could move this page to the encyclopedia and I will document it. It is a question of time for me as I am not very free for this task. I do it after my work time. --Edewolbock (talk) 09:41, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

OK, I have moved it to User:Edewolbock/Flibustier. You can work on improving it there, at your leisure; no one will try to delete it, because it is your private space rather than in the main encyclopedia. I see you have tried to add some references, but please read Help:Referencing for beginners. For starters, you cannot use a Wikipedia article as a reference, so remove those. You must use published material from reliable sources. Be sure that the material you cite actually uses the word flibustier; if there is no difference between a buccaneer and a flibustier, then we don't need a new article, just a redirect to Buccaneer. The Help article will show you how to cite the references. If you have trouble, you can ask me and I will try to coach you. --MelanieN (talk) 15:06, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hello Melanie, thank you I understand. The problem is the French word "flibustier" is coming from an English word "flibutor" and as the term "flibustier" was used in some old English books, it was quickly replaced by the anglicism "free booter". And as those terms are no more used in English there is a common confusion between "buccaneer" and "flibustier" which are two different acceptions of different realities.
Regarding the page edition, who decide to shift from my "sandbox" to the global encyclopedia ?Edewolbock (talk) 15:34, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Edewolbock, I don't know what you are asking - about your sandbox and the "global encyclopedia". Your sandbox contains a few notes about the family name Wolbock, added on May 22, and I can't find any previous history for it. The original page Wolbock family is now located at Draft:Wolbock family, where you have been working on it. (The "Draft:" and the "User:Edewolbock/" pages have the same status here - namely, they are not in the main encyclopedia, they are in a separate space where they can be worked on and improved.)
I see you have been working on the "flibustier" article. That's good, but half your references are still to Wikipedia pages. That's a no-no. Those have to be deleted and replaced by outside sources. --MelanieN (talk) 16:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am making a confusion between the sandbox and the user page User:Edewolbock/Flibustier. Sorry. By the way, my research is giving to me that the French word "flibustier" is in fact coming from the English word "Flibuster" which everyone has forgotten now. My question is now filling a gap in the history of the English language. But the right term is "Flibuster". How could I change it in the title of the article ? Edewolbock (talk) 21:41, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello MelanieN Could you explain me how to switch the page "Flibuster" to Wikipedia and give it the name "Flibuster" ? My work is achieved and I found a lot of interesting etymologycal history about this old English word, so old that even English people doesn't know it anymore.Edewolbock (talk) 08:28, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
