For a Korean Canadian, I don't think you are a neutral outsider. And the part about how Northeast Chinese students self identify themselves as Manchurians in University of Waterloo is well-written and looks real due to your professional English writing skill. But perhaps you don't know that I really stayed in Northeast China for quite a long time. Thanks for your comments, though.--Jiejunkong 04:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Outside view "is a summary written by users not directly involved with the dispute but who would like to add an outside view of the dispute." I haven't been involved in the dispute and consider myself outside. In fact, I don't mind choosing Northeastern China, but this is English Wikipedia written for English-speaking users, not Chinese users. Thanks. eDenE 13:34, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Reply By the same convention, Seoul will be written as 汉城 in zh.wikipedia, not 首尔. This will be proposed to be implemented if Koreans persist to use Manchuria in en.wikipedia and ko.wikipedia. Moreover, North Korea wants to be called as 朝鲜(朝鲜民主主义人民共和国) in Chinese, South Korea wants to be called as 韩国(大韩民国);thus there is no official Chinese translation for the general name "Korea". Likewise in Chinese, "North Korean" is 朝鲜人, "South Korean" is 韩国人; thus there is no official Chinese translation for the general name "Korean". If you persist in calling "Northeast Chinese" as "Manchurian", then, by your convention, the most modern Chinese name for "Korean", 高丽棒子, will be used to call you. (Do a google search in Chinese and you will see. BTW, 高丽人 refers to ancient Goryeo people, not modern Korean).--Jiejunkong 18:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Don't care about zh.wiki. By the way, 大韩民國 is one country and 朝鮮民主主義人民共和國 is another country. Thus, even in Korea, there's no general term for "Korean." Even though 韩國 may mean Korea as a whole, it is very rare. In South Korea, we call North Korean 北韓人. Anyways, I'm not calling you "Manchurian" (no one did). In fact, no one will call you "Northeast Chinese" either; you are just simply "Chinese." Just because where you live is called as Manchuria in English-speaking world, it doesn't make you Manchurian. Do not misunderstand. English-speaking people uses Manchuria to refer a region, not a country or whatever you think it is (just like Scandinavia) eDenE 21:54, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
(1) In China, those who favor South Korea will call the two countries 南韓,北韓; while those who favor North Korea will say 南朝鮮,北朝鮮. Consequently, people in the two countries become 南韓人,北韓人 or 南朝鮮人,北朝鮮人 depending on the speaker's point of view. Anyway, we agree that there is no single term to name "Korea" and "Korean" even in the modern time. Then the most popular term of modern time wins. Nobody wants to call you the name, except the wikirules advocated by you say so. (2) Northeast Chinese is called 東北人 (or humorously 東北銀 due to the Northeast Chinese accent). Unlike South Korea, China has lots of dialects due to its immense size. Chinese people in different geographic regions also have quite different characters. So they typically get refined names like 廣東人,上海寧,山東任,東北銀. Okay, so much for the information. Please don't use Korean standard to measure everything, in particular everything in modern Northeast China.--Jiejunkong 05:17, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Korean standard? No, it is not. English-speaking people prefers Manchuria and this is English Wikipedia. That's all. I'll stop responding to you. Thanks. eDenE 18:23, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Unless you can convince CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC to name "Northeast China" as "Manchuria" in their news reports, I don't think your English-speaking people dominate the English-speaking world.--Jiejunkong 08:43, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Korean Scout motto edit

Thank you for your translation. I meant the _inside_ text, which may be something like "Be Prepared", can you look at that too? Thanks! Chris 08:27, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Korean template edit

I've made a few edits to the template (which you've probably noticed!), nothing major, just updating a few things and tidying it up a bit. There were a few other things that I either couldn't do or wasn't sure about, so I've left some notes on the talk page. I'd certainly appreciate your input. Regards. PC78 23:19, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

By the way, nice work with the nav template and assessment page! Also, ProveIt left a note on the assessment talk page, asking why we're not using the standard colours. I have no preference either way, so I'll leave that to you. :) PC78 23:28, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for answering my question in the reference desk. However, they're just a bunch of question marks on my computer. How do I make them show? --JDitto 04:04, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for your work on the korean template, and participation in many talk pages. You and PC78 make great addition to our current pool of contributors. Again, as I said to PC78, these are very technical things that other people can't do. You Edene and PC78 thus make essential editors to our WP:KO community. Wikimachine 16:51, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

{{Koreannames}} edit

Perhaps you already know, but your recent merge of {{Koreannames}} into {{Koreanname}} is causing problems with a few articles (see Ha Ji-won).

Also, if you're in the mood for some more merging, I think {{Koreanruler}} could also be added to the new template. Regards. PC78 22:54, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I corrected all articles that was using {{Koreannames}} inappropriately - using hangulborn instead of hangul. Regarding {{Koreanruler}}, it might be little hard to do so, because the order is very different. I will try though. Thanks. eDenE 23:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
See the talk page of {{Koreanname}}; it seems that your recent changes have sparked some controversy. Regards. PC78 17:50, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I asked Visviva about {{Koreanruler}}; you can see the reply I got on my talk page. Regards. PC78 23:28, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

More templates for deletion edit

Hey there Edene! I've tagged another bunch of templates for deletion, including several subpages of {{WikiProject Korea}} - can you double check to make sure I haven't tagged anything important by mistake? Cheers! PC78 16:03, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Excellent method for presenting userboxes edit

I have stolen with thanks your method for presenting userboxes, on your main user page. Very elegant. Just for fun, I am also a fellow Korean, in a way. I was born in Pusan, and lived there until I was nine years old; though I don't actually have any Korean ancestry. I've now forgotten almost all the little Korean I ever knew, I'm very sorry to say. But I did have a Korean name. I was baptized as 서형일, though the name has no other official standing. Duae Quartunciae (talk · cont) 01:33, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Equal matrix edit

I am going to leave a note on the talkpage. Before I do so I am looking for a solution via redirect. I blanked because I would prefer a user encounter nothing as opposed to incorrect information. It won't stay blank for to much longer in any case. --Cronholm144 04:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I nominated the article for speedy deletion. I don't think Equal matrix (or equal matrices) is a common term to define matrices that are same. If you want to redirect it to Matrix (mathematics) or other related page, please do so. eDenE 04:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I redirected, but for some reason the redirect won't parse. Could you try your hand at it?--Cronholm144 05:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Infobox merge edit

If you have some time to kill, can you do me a favour and take a look at this? It's my own crude attempt at merging {{Infobox City Korea}}, {{Infobox Korean province}}, {{Infobox North Korean province}} and {{Infobox old Korean province}} into the more widely used {{Korean district}}. Everything looks good to me - the only problem as such is the different useage of the image field in some of these templates, but I don't think that will be a major issue. Cheers! PC78 18:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK then, I've done a bit more work on the template and I think it's more or less done. I do have a small problem though - if you look here there is an empty space at the top of the page which I assume is being caused by the template. On the other hand, I'm not getting the same effect here. Do you have any idea where the problem lies? PC78 17:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
