Veteran Corps of Artillery of the State of New York

"Veteran Corps of Artillery" (VCA), a ceremonial unit which was organized on November 25, 1790 (Evacuation Day) by American Revolutionary War Veterans. The VCA served in the War of 1812 and in the Civil War was Battery "G" of the 4th Regiment of Artillery, New York State Militia. During World War I the VCA were part of the "1st Provisional Regiment" within the State of New York. Likewise 600 VCA men were detailed to form the 9th Coast Artillery Corps (For History see [6]) The Armory is also home to the Knickerbocker Greys, an afterschool program which has been there since 1902.
