Promotional writing edit

Your article on Cadec-online contains material that we normally consider promotional. As reviewing administrator, I ask you to rewrite it, in order that the article not be nominated for deletion.

A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. These sources must be about the specific subject of the article, which is this specific product, not the general methods of analysis

A Wikipedia article needs to be written about the subject of the article. We consider extensive descriptions of the general analytic methods which are common to this and other software inappropriate: this material should be covered in articles on these methods and merely linked from the article on the product (I notice you have been beginning to write those we do not already have, which is a very good idea indeed and a valuable contribution--be sure to give references in them to standard textbooks and the like, and be sure not to mention specific programs

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the product and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia--which is ,m basically , what it does. Do not include material that would be of interest only to prospective clients --that sort of content is considered promotional.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without WP:Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know If you think you can do it right according to our guidelines, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity.

For further information see our FAQ about business, organizations, and articles like this and also WP:FIRST.

I think the subject is important and I hope to keep the article--but I need your assistance in rewriting it. DGG ( talk ) 21:23, 10 August 2012 (UTC) /Reply

I tried to change the promotional tone by removing some explanations. I think it looks good now. bcartolo (talk) 02:19, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I think it's OK now. Usually I would suggest writing in paragraphs instead of lists, but I tried doing that, and the list format the way you have it was much clearer DGG ( talk ) 22:10, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
