Welcome

edit

Hello ESPNstatistics and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Penn State Nittany Lions football, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Zupotachyon Ping me (talkcontribs) 22:35, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Pittsburgh Panthers football. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. JohnInDC (talk) 22:38, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at James Conner (American football), you may be blocked from editing. JohnInDC (talk) 22:40, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Username issue

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "ESPNstatistics", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because because it both implies that you are affiliated with ESPN, and, is the name of a business rather than an individual.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. JohnInDC (talk) 22:42, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Notice

edit

Hello, Geomaniac123. Concerns have been raised that your username may be incompatible with policy. You can contribute to the discussion about it at the page for requests for comment on usernames. Alternatively, if you agree that your username may be problematic and are willing to change it, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name. Simply request a new name at Wikipedia:Changing username following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  – Juliancolton | Talk 23:24, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

While I admit that I may have gotten carried away, the "JohninDC" kept pushing my buttons and challenging my temper. I feel as though JohnInDC violated the fourth pillar of wikipedia, as he decided to treat me with disrespect and hostility instead of simply helping a new user find his way. (source is on his talk page). I apologize if my edits appeared to be vandalism but I promise they were made with the only the best intentions

Decline reason:

I took a look through your edits. If those were your "best intentions", clearly you have no place here. Yamla (talk) 00:21, 16 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

First of all I would like to apologize to JohninDC (talk · contribs) for my demeanor yesterday, it was completely uncalled for and I am aware that I was completely in the wrong. The truth is that I could ask to be unblocked but I have no proof in I did will not happen again if I were to be unblocked. However, I do believe that I can still help improve wikipedia by changing the language in some of the articles to be more neutral. For example, before I edited in the Pitt football wiki page, the reasoning for the lack of renewal in the Pitt- PSU rivalry in the 2000s was worded in a way that raised, at least in my opinion, anti Pitt sediments. Examples like these, while technically not incorrect, can become frustrating to those who are just looking for unbiased information. So therefore, I would very much like to be unblocked and become a functional member of the wikicommunity by helping fix issues like the one I just mentioned. If not, however, I completely understand and will not request another opportunity to be unblocked. Also, yes I will change the username to something that is not questionably in violation of the wikipedia username policy. *EDIT* Thanks to a great suggestion by JustBerry (talk · contribs), I just wanted to note that I would like to change my username to geomaniac123, as most of my schooling is concentrated in the field of geology. Accept reason:

Per an IRC conversation with Juliancolton. I will be unblocking you momentarily and renaming your account to Geomaniac123 as requested. Ks0stm (TCGE) 17:50, 11 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

You may want to include the username you would like to change your current username to in your unblock request. --JustBerry (talk) 21:11, 16 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
