August 2011 edit

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. See also: 208.102.239.30 (talk). Gyrofrog (talk) 16:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎, you may be blocked from editing. You cited a blog, which is not an acceptable source (see WP:BLOGS). And yet the blog doesn't actually support your claim. Gyrofrog (talk) 20:29, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

As you are the one making the change, the burden is on you to provide reliable sources: see WP:BURDEN. There are additional sources to support the current version of the article, not just the citation in the Infobox. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:38, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Again, you can't cite a blog as a reliable source (and, again, the blog does not even support your position: "In June 2000, after a further ten months of failed international diplomacy in which Eritrea refused to approve changes to the peace plan proposed by the UN and OAU envoys, Ethiopia launched a major offensive that recapture all territory. It was on to occupy parts of central and western Eritrea as well. An amended settlement was then accepted by Eritrea which implemented a ceasefire and the installation of a OAU-UN buffer zone on Eritrean soil."). Gyrofrog (talk) 19:57, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll also direct you to Wikipedia:No personal attacks before you again accuse anyone of "not thinking". -- Gyrofrog (talk) 20:00, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
First, and most importantly, I strongly suggest that you make your case at Talk:Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎ where other editors (other than myself) will see it. As mentioned, you are going to find yourself blocked if you make this change again without WP:CONSENSUS. Secondly, the BBC source doesn't say "Ethiopian troops became to retreat", in fact the article doesn't even mention the word "retreat". It says: "Earlier on Wednesday, Eritrea's presidential spokesman, Yemane Gebremeskel, confirmed that Ethiopian troops were withdrawing from western Eritrea." And note that it also says "The Eritrean army withdrew hurriedly from the west and tens of thousands of civilians fled the area." Third, there are additional sources in this article, besides the BBC citation, that further support the current version (see next-to-last paragraph in the "Chronology" section). But again, and most importantly, the best place for you to make your case for changing the article is at Talk:Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎, and not on my talk page. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:41, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Regarding your accusation, "You yourself are an Ethiopian trying to stop the TRUTH that Eritrea actually BEAT you guys": I am not Ethiopian. But how would you feel if I turned this around so it said "You yourself are an Eritrean trying to stop the TRUTH that Ethiopia actually BEAT you guys"? Not very helpful, is it? Again, please see WP:NPA (specifically where it warns against "using someone's affiliations as an ad hominem means of dismissing or discrediting their views"). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:52, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Take what out of the Wikipedia page? Once again, it would be better if you propose any changes at Talk:Eritrean–Ethiopian War‎, and not on my talk page. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:46, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
