November 2022 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Nick-D (talk) 09:03, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Blocked for blatant violations of WP:COITALK for this notice claiming that the article is outdated and advocating for your proposed changes ("looking to resolve a few issues with LendingClub's article" "LendingClub article that contains a fair amount of outdated information and inaccuracies", claiming in these messages that another editor supports your approach when they don't seem to fully do, etc). Drafting text and also not explicitly highlighting how it differs from the current text in the article is also not in line with this provision. Given that the LendingClub article has a history of problematic edits from accounts seeking to include spammy text about the company, I'm not inclined to give the benefit of the doubt here. Hello! Up front, I'd like to apologize if I've overstepped my bounds as a COI editor. Throughout my engagement, I've aimed to make suggestions and let other editors decide what goes in the article and what doesn't. I believed this was in line with the spirit and letter of Wikipedia's COI editing guidelines, but it looks from your note here that I have misstepped with my note to the Wikiproject asking for help.
I've been reviewing the guideline you linked to and considering your note. I realize that, in my post on WP Computing, I might have seemed like I was pushing an agenda or mischaracterizing another editor's sentiments. That truly was not my intention. I was trying to build a broader consensus that the editor was asking for, and pointing out that, following the merger of the LendingClub Bank and LendingClub articles, there are inaccuracies on the latter page. If I was too glib in doing this—the "fair amount of outdated information" claim—that was because I didn't want to overwhelm editors with a detailed breakdown of the differences between the current article copy and what I'm proposing. But I can be more explicit in the future, to make sure I'm following this guideline correctly and aiding editors in making a fair judgment.
I read the note at the top of your User Talk page and see that you don't like to go back and forth with COI editors. That's fair. I respect your time. I'm leaving this note based on the guide to appealing blocks, where it suggests engaging the relevant admin first, in order to understand their reasoning. Any help or guidance you could provide would be immensely appreciated. Likewise, if you prefer not to engage further, I understand. Thanks! Request reason:

Hello! I've been blocked by User:Nick-D, for "blatant violations of WP:COITALK" related to [post] I made on the WikiProject Computing Talk page. Before filing this appeal, I asked the admin for further clarification on the block, to follow the guide to appealing blocks and now I'm requesting the unblock, as I'm not sure how else to proceed.

For the past few months, I have been working in my capacity as a LendingClub employee to request updates to the LendingClub Wikipedia article. I have identified myself as a COI editor and use edit requests on the LendingClub Talk page, so that independent editors can ultimately decide what does and doesn't go in the LC article. I went to WP Computing to ask editors there for help building consensus around issues with the LendingClub article following an article merger process. I think my error was in not being explicit enough about the changes I was seeking, and in the tone I took. I was trying to say that an editor I had been speaking to on the LC Talk page wanted more input to build consensus and I agreed, but I can see that my note wasn't clearly worded and sounded like I was saying they agreed with me on the changes. I apologize for those mistakes. In the future, I will quote other editors, if I mention their comments at all, and I will be thorough in terms of explaining how whatever changes I seek improve the LendingClub page. I know that as a COI editor, other editors are likely to be skeptical of my suggestions, and I am obligated to earn their trust by submitting solid content and by being clear about how that content improves upon what is already in the LC article.
To the admin(s) reviewing this appeal: thank you for taking the time. If you need further clarification on the situation, I'm available to answer any questions you may have. EFlynn at LendingClub (talk) 13:43, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You seem to be interested writing us how the company describes itself and what it does, and not how independent reliable sources describe the company and what it does. Maybe someone else will disagree, but I don't see a pathway to you being unblocked without some time away from editing about your company, so you can build up an edit history demonstrating that you understand content guidelines. If you have no interest in being a more general contributor, this is probably the end of the line. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 13:54, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
