Usurpation of User:Eve

edit

Hi Eve. I'm afraid this could get confusing, so bear with me! I saw your request for usurpation of the User:Eve account, and I'm afraid I've got a bit of a spanner to throw in the works. I've been using the account User:Eve Hall for over a year, and very soon after registering I noticed the account User:Eve was inactive with no edits. Since I'd not heard of usurpation at that point I just changed my signature to sign myself 'Eve', thinking it wouldn't cause any confusion since User:Eve had no edits and was a dead account.

I certainly wouldn't want to block your application to take over User:Eve, you have just as much right to the name as I do, but I thought I ought to let you know there are about two thousand posts/edits lurking out there that will look like they were signed by you! I've asked on the Usurpation talk page if it's possible to change all my old signatures automatically, but I suspect the answer is no.

I'm really sorry to cause problems, hopefully we can sort this out somehow. Eve (talk) 21:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi other Eve ;-) I understand your point... I wouldn't like that either, if it would concern me! I honestly do not know how to solve this, other than not changing my username (but that would may be clash with the upcoming SUL). Maybe it's best to just wait and see if the sysops come up with more options. Of course it is possible for me as well to adjust my signature, I'm not going to be a very active user on en:wiki anyway (I'll be here mostly for adjusting/adding interwiki's and stuff like that). But even when I do so, the recent changes and history will always show "Eve" and not whatever-name-I-sign-with. Phew. Tough one! I'll keep watching this page and the usurpation talk page to see what our options are. If there aren't any, I'll simply cancel my request, since you are the most active user of the name "Eve" anyways. Cheers! Dutch Eve (talk) 21:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply, and sorry to make things complicated! I had no idea SUL was even going to happen, thanks for tipping me off. I should read the village pump more. I'm not sure what the best thing is to do either, I guess wait and see if anyone comes up with any suggestions. Eve (talk) 21:55, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello Eve, Would you like to write about Isabelle de Charrière (123386) (writer in the time of Jane Austen) for the NDS Wikipedia and the NO Wikipedia? That would be appreciated. Good New Year. Boss-well63 (talk) 15:20, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Eve! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Downton Abbey: A New Era that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
