welcome edit

i'm always glad to see someone trying to improve dubstep-related articles!

i'm one of the regular maintainers of the actual Dubstep article (although the other two are on wikibreak :( ) and the reason i'm saying hello is because a few recent articles you've edited are on my watchlist.

if i can give you one hint as regards contributing, it would be to have a good read of three key policies: WP:N, WP:V, and WP:NOR. these three things explain a LOT of the annoying policy stuff.

i'm really not trying to get on your case, but essentially what i'm saying is that if you're going to add content regarding, for example, burial's influences (i completely agree with your additions, personally), then you have to be able to back it up with verifiable sources, in other words either reputable print journals, reputable online sources (martin clark's stuff on blackdownsoundboy and pitchfork is an invaluable resource), or academic journals or reputable film sources.

if you want to know what references are all about, have a look at WP:REF or the dubstep article, which has piles of em! for now i'll stick a tag on your additions, and i might try and reference them myself, but i would encourage you to do so and get the hang of it. i won't delete your additions, but i will add that under wiki policy anyone can challenge or even delete unsourced content and stay within the rules, even if the addition is blindingly obvious.

the article on hyperdub is being challenged at the moment, for example. look at the recent edit history.

anyway, happy editing :) --Kaini (talk) 23:29, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

sorry about the delay in my response, i'm not really as active on wiki as i used to be bar reverting the odd bit of vandalism. to answer your questions - i'm not familiar with trill bass. but there's a lot of shit out there :).
i come to dubstep through a love of classic acid and idm like aphex. idm's stagnant and i heard the burial album, and then the skream one... what really rocks my socks at the moment is the basic-channel/dub-techno-influenced stuff, Digital Mystikz, the stuff on Skull Disco (shackleton can do no wrong!) and actually grime stuff, more and more lately. love durrty goodz!
i do make my own stuff (and play guitar and a bit of piano, but more importantly have a good training in music theory) - but it's mostly ambient, although i do notice it getting dubbier lately haha!
anyway, not to be a smartass but you really should have another read of those wiki policies. i've tidied up that DnB album article to give you an idea of a good start! here's a direct comparison of the revisions. --Kaini (talk) 22:58, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

July 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page London Elektricity has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bmyspace\.com' (link(s): http://www.myspace.com/londonelektricity) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! AfD nomination of Billion Dollar Gravy edit

I have nominated Billion Dollar Gravy, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Billion Dollar Gravy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? SRX 18:17, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I thought music albums were notable if a notable artist created them. London Elektricity is more than qualified, having won several music awards and being a pioneer of live drum and bass (ask any junglist/drum n bass fan), who also founded Hospital Records, but if you want to delete it, that's okay. If you don't believe me, look at this. DubCrazy (talk) 18:19, 4 August 2008 (UTC)DubCrazyReply
That is still not enough because those are reviews by unreliable sources, unless reliable sources can be found to source it, and make the article more like an Album article. Yeah from El Salvador, San Miguel, El Salvador.SRX 18:40, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've gotten you started with an infobox and some formatting, as well as deleting two reviews that don't meet WP:EL guidelines. I'd find another few reviews that do pass it, and maybe an appropriately licensed image for the infobox too, though. SRX, The Guardian is about as reliable a source as you can get. --Kaini (talk) 20:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject Dubstep, etc. edit

hey Dubcrazy, glad to see you're still editing. nice work with the pinch article there! i've moved it to fit naming convention and also fooled around with the dabs, so Pinch (musician) is no longer a redirect and the main dab page is nicer too. i have a good pinch interview in Foggy Notions magazine knocking about somewhere, good ref material which i'll have a dig for later.

anyway regarding the proposed WP, at the moment, to be honest, i can't see it taking off. a genre or genres needs to garner enough attention that the WP sort of gains enough critical mass, members-wise, to get going. dnb has that at the moment. grime, dubstep, funky house, etc., don't... yet.

man, i've spent a lot of time trying to get people on dubstepforum involved over here, without much success - although Martin Clark used to be a contributor here, and in fact started the dubstep article, and seckle, one of the mods over there, wrote the women in dubstep section of the article, and did a fantastic job as well. i think the umbrella of wikiproject electronic music fits nicely for the time being.

i think at present our focus should be getting the dubstep article to WP:FA status. it's not far off it either, it's just a matter of dotting the i's and crossing the t's. btw i'm going to have to start trimming down the dubstep artists list again, based on WP:N. hope that doesn't offend - my attitude is that having a physical release, even a single 12", is the criteria for notability. just a myspace page or a netlabel signing doesn't cut it. so don't get offended if i excise the odd artist you added to the list! --Kaini (talk) 21:30, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of MRK1 edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on MRK1, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because MRK1 seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting MRK1, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:32, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
