Wondering what is your connection to Swarup Sarkar? Best Doc James (talkcontribsemail) 18:10, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for asking Doc James. I am a new Wikipedian. Hence might get the codes wrong. I am an Infectious Diseases fellow at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. I am neither personally related to Swarup, nor is an employee / student / fellow or research scholar under him. The only thing we share in common is our Grad Medical school Alma mater. I met this amazing guy Swarup Sarkar through common acquaintances and was mesmerized to hear his contribution in making free of cost Antiretroviral therapy available for millions of poor Indian patients through advocating a strong network of events, which simultaneously involved persuasion to right wing corrupt Indian politicians to accept the HIV problem, to make them understand that millions of peoples' lives will be affected if free / cheap drugs are available, lobbying with the politicians across the political lines in order to nullify Pfizer's monopoly license for AZT/3TC in India, getting generic drug manufacturers involve, as well as advocating a whopping fund of 122 million USD from The Global Fund. All almost single-handedly. Sadly I don't have reliable online references for all the thrilling minute details, hence kept it sketchy. And Swarup was also one of the first epidemiologists to report Injection Drug use as a risk factor for HIV transmission. I thought that people, particularly young doctors and epidemiologists from India should know about him. I definitely haven't created this article for any advertisement purpose. Hope this satisfies your query. Drsayantanb (talk) 18:26, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Okay. The difficulty is your writing style is promotional and some of the details you have added are unsupported. Doc James (talkcontribsemail) 18:29, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Can you help me modify the promotional style by suggesting to improve areas, if you have time? Definitely I don't want it to be a bad article. I am not re-entering the "Personal Life" section. What else?Drsayantanb (talk) 18:36, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Why did you remove this tag without fixing the problems?[1] The thing is literally full of puffery. Doc James (talkcontribsemail) 18:48, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear User:Doc_James I have asked for your specific suggestions regarding "puffery" contents. I have removed all uncited and promotional appearing sections and edited sections to make those straightforward. Kindly let me know what best can be done to remove the tag?Drsayantanb (talk) 19:38, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Looking at the article further and a lot of work is still required. Maybe we should move it back to draft space. Some of the concerns are layed out on the talk page. Best Doc James (talkcontribsemail) 20:47, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
It is not in the draft as well. How can I edit it now? User:Doc JamesDrsayantanb (talk) 22:20, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mirrors edit

Thanks for contributing to the article Swarup Sarkar. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Kuru (talk) 20:12, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks User:Kuru I can't find the article to edit anymore. Is it deleted completely? Drsayantanb (talk) 22:22, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear User:Doc James and User: Kuru Why can't I find the article in the Draft page as well? Can you kindly guide me regarding- where should I find the article to edit? The copyvio detection is detecting quotations that are put under inverted commas. They are not copied statement. Second copyvio detection are the names of the research articles, proper names of instituitions. Sadly the third onwards copyvios are really minor and names of the 11 SEAR countries in the standardard order and a small excerpt from an UN News. User:Kuru pointed me out correctly about the circular reference from an outside website which provides a reference to a wikipedia page. That needs deletion / correction. But currently I am not finding the article in the draft as well. So, how can I correct it, even if I want to? Kindly guide me.Drsayantanb (talk) 22:37, 20 April 2019 (UTC) From- Drsayantanb (talk) 23:28, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dear User:Doc James and User:Kuru Kindly see the latest review. Have changed the copyright violation sections (though previously they were true quotations). Removed the circular references as suggested by User:Kuru. But after changes made, I can't see the article. Kindly move it to drafts or suggest what best I can do? From Drsayantanb (talk) 23:28, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
They were not surrounded by quotation marks... Doc James (talkcontribsemail) 23:34, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Oh No User:Doc James the copyvio sections labelled in Red flag from the UCLA website were definitely within quotations. You may kindly verify the previous edits to see that. However, I have now removed all the quotations as well and reframed the sentences to avoid any confusion and have restructured the tone in a non-promotional way. I hope you might consider reviewing it once more.Drsayantanb (talk) 05:13, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Currently there is no more significant copyvio detection. The detection that is being shown is almost ridiculous. Small phrases like "Award for Outstanding Public Health Achievements" or the proper names are detected as copyright violations.[1] And also one quick fact- I can't see the Draft to further edit as well. Thanks in advance, for guiding a novice Wikipedian Drsayantanb (talk) 05:20, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Drsayantanb, I have restored the article to draft space and have removed the copyvio tag for ease of editing. You would be able to access the article now. I congratulate you for your effort, but as you perhaps understand, Wikipedia cannot be a primary source. You also need to rewrite in your own words whatever relevant information you procure from a reliable source. Diptanshu 馃挰 06:22, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
User:Diptanshu Das The article <Draft:Swarup Sarkar> has been completely edited and trimmed down as per Wikipedia policy. Can you have a look and move it to the Main space and remove the banner, if you find it adequate? Drsayantanb (talk) 13:13, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
