Believer's Baptism

The term believer's baptism is appropriate even without quotation marks because it indicates the emphasis laid on personal belief as an a priori condition for valid baptism according to the traditions that practice it. Infant baptizers, on the other hand, either deny that an infant can believe (Presbyterians) or that they need to believe in order for the rite to be valid (Lutherans, etc.). Luther discusses this idea at length in his Large Catechism, sections 52 through 63. Eugeneacurry 19:15, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

The phrase remains in itself a POV and should continue to be set off with quotation marks. Infant Baptism is also a "Believer's Baptism" and to say it isn't is pushing an Anabaptist POV.--Drboisclair 14:03, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

BBC Television Shakespeare

I had meant to drop you a line a while ago when you did a major revamp on this page and thank you for your efforts so my apologies for not doing so sooner. My questions per your rvt are this. First you have seasons two through seven listed in the order that they aired in the UK, as is proper on all pages for television transmission listings here at wikipedia. Why don't you want to do this for season one? Second the year that was next to the plays title matches exactly the year of transmission in your edits for the airing dates, thus, it is redundant. I know you take special care of this page and if the second item is important so be it, but the first one I don't understand. The BBC did not air them in the order that they were written by Will and, as I said before, all other pages list the progammes in the order that they aired, even when, as in the case of several Doctor Who and Blackadder episodes, they were recorded in a different order. Also, my apologies for reverting before I asked you these questions. I have changed it back awaiting your ideas. One last question, do you have these on DVD and can you check the items that I posted on the talk page to clear up my memories of the costuming changes from when I was viewinng the shows back in their airing here in the US in the 70's and 80's? Thank you for your note. I think that the information that you added to the text today enhances the article immeasurably. It helps to explain things that went on (especially the 2 1/2 hour time limit which I had forgotten) that I remember from watching it at the time and will be valuable to the learning of any who come to read this page in the future. Being a life long fan of British television (er, well, at least since 1971 when I first saw The Six Wives of Henry VIII) the release of so many of my treasured memories on DVD has been a godsend. The one thing missing for me is the publication of articles/books about the making of these series that has gone on in the last decade in the UK. Like this series Fall of Eagles and The Good Life both have reference works that have been used to enhance articles here at Wikipedia and I am jealous (in a good way) of those of you who are lucky enough to have access to them.

I noticed that you changed broadcast to transmit for the US airings and I have no problem with that. I know that I have come accross some discussion about the difference in the way that the US refers to this as different from the UK but I can't remember what it was so I think that they should be fine as is. The one thing from my note above that we didn't discuss is the order that they are in and I have taken the priviledge of putting them in the order of their original UK transmissions and I hope that is okay with you. A project of mine, at home, has been to note the day/date/year of when things were shown in the UK so that I can recreate that in my viewing of programmes and the entries that you have made on this page have helped me to make my listing more complete so many thanks. I forgot to say in my above message that I will change the pages back after my alteration if you have a good reason for doing so. Then while I was working on them I noticed that Tony Church was in two plays in the 1st season and I wanted to let you know that I have been fortunate enough to see him in a few plays here in Denver. He retired a year or two ago but, in the late 90's, I was lucky enough to communicate with him by letter when I found that I had a record version of Robin Hood with his name listed as portraying Friar Tuck (Robin was voiced by Robert Hardy). My apologies for the continued series of messages today but I have to ask - are you now putting the plays in the order that they were taped? This is what it looks like so I thought that I would ask and then add that the wikipedia preferred way of listing is in the order transmitted. The best example is in the Dr Who pages. With the start of the Jon Pertwee era stories were often recorded in a different order from the way that of transmission but the order that they are listed here is the transmission one. It is possible that we should move the dates taped notes that you are adding below the date transmitted notes and I will be happy to assist in that work if you wish. Just let me know. Now are notes are crossing each other! As I just wrote above the transmission order is preferred and I don't know whether you could find a page here at wikiP where the are listed in the taping order. If it was really important to you I would suggest that you take your concern to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Television and/or the Wikipedia:WikiProject British TV shows and see what they say. If you do them in terms of transmission dates, then you have the conflict of UK and US dates. I suppose that you could do them on the basis of the first transmission date in either country. I compromised by taking the date in parenthesis off of each of the plays, so there can also be a compromise in listing them in the order of their taping.--Drboisclair 17:47, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

I have only just seen your note here (I missed it in several other of our communications today). If I were coming to this page for the first time I would be expecting to see the listings for the play in airing date order so I will just make one last plea to follow that basic style for television programs here at wikipedia. This is always based on what country they were first transmitted in so only the UK ones matter in this case. One idea might be to put the UK transmission date next to the title (where the year only date used to be) as is done here [1] on the Rumpole page. Then leave the note for when they were recorded and the note for US transmission just as they are. In any case the UK info is of more importance. Now I know that this would entail some work and I would be happy to do it if you wished. But, in the spirit of compromise mentioned above, I would add that I don't think that this page will come under the active scrutiny of either of the TV projects that I gave the links to above (be aware that if it does they will almost certainly change it to airing order, though I could be wrong - heavens knows I have been before) any time soon so the page would be able to stay as is for the foreseeable future. However, I would suggest that you add a note at the beginning of the listings explaining that they are in order of there recording dates so that readers will understand what they are encountering. I know I said that I would stop pestering you but I left out the fact that the Macbeth being aired in one season but recorded during a different one is another reason for transmission order listing. One another note when I checked out the editor who wanted Mr Church's page deleted I found that it was someone who had only made one entry here at wikiP (at least under that username) and that was to delete his page. Thank you for the note and for your graciousness in putting up with my constant notes on your page. That is interesting about the two that were shown in the US first. I do seem to remember that (presswise) the series seemed to come to an end with a whimper in comparison with the fanfare that it had begun with years before. Two notes about Jonathan Miller. He hosted a series in the late 70's or early 80's entitled The Body in Question wherein he went back to his college study of medicine and taught us how the human body works. It was very well done but I have never seen it released on DVD, if you ever have a chance to see it - it is well worth it. Second, he directed Mozart's The Magic Flute at the Santa Fe Opera several years ago and I was lucky enough to be in the audience. It was quite inventive and fun. Cheers. Hi again David. I was entering the plays on the calendar of UK programs that I keep and I came across one fact that I thought that you might find interesting (if you weren't already aware of it). Twelfth Night aired on Twelfth Night! That is January 6th 1980. That date was a Sunday that year. I think that is kind of neat. I have a Twelfth Night tradition of watching John Huston's adaptation of Joyce's short story The Dead as the story is set on that night. It was Huston's last film and I find think that it is a gem. Hi again and thanks for your note. I am going to have to get into some boxes to see if I can find some of the programs for the plays that I saw him in but that may take a week or so. He was a treat in You Never Can Tell playing the waiter. He also stood out in The Dresser and The Quick Change Room but it was his one man show in Give 'em a Bit of Mystery (a history of Shakespearean theatre through the years) that will always be a treasured memory. I have also contacted John Thaxter (an editor here at wikipedia who is a theatre critic in the London area) in the hopes that he may have something to add to the page. He has recently added several items about Helen Mirren's stage performances. I know that I am nissing a large part of my favorite actors careers not getting to see them on stage but I least I get to learn about it from time to time. Take care. Yeah, I think so. I was reading the transwiki help pages but couldn't make heads or tails. I'll try to get around to it later, but if I were you I'd make a notation in the article that wikisource has a copy of the text on the german site and start there from scratch, unless you know how to transwiki. David, can you see if Pr McCain will release this image under GFDL? Chances are, the "wikipedia-only" permission will get the image removed at some point, as will the non-commercial part, as that doesn't match up with the GFDL. Jews and their Lies

I'm sorry its taken me so long to respond, i didn't notice your talk until just now. I've recently found the software to turn scans into PDFs and decided to start uploading my collection of extremist memorabilia (a bizzare hobby, but an original one). I had noticed there was an acrimonious debate about the book on the talk pages, but I hadn't known that it had been mentioned before. Its good to hear from people who actually appreciate what you upload considering how much work it takes to scan a book.
