DirecTV signal hack

I have no firsthand proof to show you, but I've once seen a legitimately-hacked system. It featured an old computer tower (the horizontal type! before they even stood upright) with a phone cord leading into a computer card of some sort. This chip was placed into the access card slot. From what I understand, this set up basically fooled the DirecTV receiver into thinking that you had subscribed to, and purchased, absolutely everything available, resulting you getting all things for free, including PPV.
