message from Claveau

edit

Hi!

You recently left a message on my user page and I'd like to thank you for the welcome note. I have just finished translating an article from French to English on Leopold Senghor, but it would need to be proof-read and checked but I don't know how or if it's possible to add a template that would ask for it. Anyway, thanks for your help in advance! Claveau 21:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Writing in color

edit

How can i write in color?

There are two ways to write in color: first, you can use the font HTML tag. So

<font color="blue">This is blue!</font>

yields

This is blue!

Personally, I would use the following syntax:

<span style="color:blue">This is blue!</span>

yields

This is blue!

This uses CSS. Hope this answers any questions. GracenotesT § 01:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

You wish may to see Web colors#X11 color names for the colors that you can use (the color names). If you use hex triplets, you can have up to 16777216 colors possible! See the RGB color model and hexadecimal for more information about how to construct those. GracenotesT § 01:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hm... so this is what you wanted to use color for, eh? :p You learned a new skill in Wikitext programming in the process, though. Happy editing! GracenotesT § 03:36, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edit summary usage

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. WP:CHICAGO leadership

edit

This month you have indicated new or continuing interest in WP:CHICAGO as either an active or semi-active member. The response to the project membership survey was strong enough that we should attempt to organize it in a more fully functional way. Please sign up at Wikipedia:CHICAGO/leadership if you would be willing to serve as a leader of the project from September 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009. The various leadership responsibilities are listed there. The roles will be somewhat similar to the roles of Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators. We are a less mature and developed project than WP:MILHIST however, so our division of roles will be slightly different. Please respond by the 23rd.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 18:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Category:Top-importance Chicago articles

edit

For the rest of this month we are looking for more candidates to be promoted to Category:Top-importance Chicago articles. We are hoping to bring the list of category members to a total of 50. Either you have participated in past votes and discussions or you have recently signed up to be a part of WP:CHICAGO. In either case, please come visit Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chicago/Assessment where we are determining who to add to the September 1st ballot. Some candidate debates have lingered, but there are many new ones from the project's top 50 according to the Wikipedia:Release Version 0.7. Could you please try it by translating any page with Internet Explorer, and then report here on bugzilla if you find something wrong? We don't have many Internet Explorer testers, so your help would be very valuable. I also think that you'll enjoy translating with this tool. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

  • In [[Canada]] secondary schools (also known as [High schools) are educational institutions consisting most commonly of students enrolled in grades

Merger of High school into Secondary school

Sorry, but the merger of High school into Secondary school, which you administratively completed, seems to be particularly ill-judged, not by you but – unanimous or not – by the participants of that debate. Note that I have just proposed undoing that merger, see Talk:Secondary school#Revert merger of Secondary school and High school. Feel free to join into the discussion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Channel strip, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Compression and XLR. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
