Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Homer Jacobson has been reverted.
Your edit here to Homer Jacobson was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.science.org/lookup/doi/10.1126/science.113.2933.292, https://www.science.org/lookup/doi/10.1126/science.112.2901.143) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Not sure how to update the bio information on the wiki page for my late father

edit

I tried to add the birth and death dates for Homer Jacobson (my father) who was a professor of Chemistry, but who died in 2014. The page is full of broken links and misinformation, yet the two times I tried to repair it, the changes were rolled back. I went and got the Certificate of Death so I could cite my source, and went and found links to the scientific articles already mentioned in the page, but the bot thought it was better to roll back to dead links. Can someone help me understand what I need to do so the page does not say he is still alive and show broken links to the articles? Dovetail83 (talk) 01:03, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Use a {{request edit}} template on the talk page of your father's article, explain your connection (conflict of interest), and explain the corrections you wish to make. Ideally, you should have references so that an independent editor can make the changes based on what published sources say rather than just your assertion. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:35, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
