COI editing edit

Hi, I am SO brand new at this I can't even remember how to "talk" to you so I hope you get this somehow. I was hired to do this piece and one other. The information I used was sent to me. I mean no disrespect or error, I have profound respect for Wikipedia. I think maybe I should study more before any future submissions here. Thanks for your guidance though. Hi Dottie, I noticed that an article that you recently created Marklen Kennedy has a very promotional tone to it and contains quite a lot of information that is not supported in any of the sources cited. The article contained ambiguous statements that added to the aura of notability and some semi-truths that I have corrected.

  • He was a talent producer and not the producer of the Texas Rising
  • He was a cast member of Texas Rising but only in 1 episode
  • He was a recurring character on Pawn Stars a reality show
  • He was not a recurring character on Melrose Place where in 1999 he played bartender N°2 in 1 episode
  • He was not a recurring character in CSI he played a pool manager in 1 episode in 2010

The use of the word "hit" is not acceptable as it totally subjective and designed to promote the subject. Please read WP:PEACOCK His career being "launched" is another exemple of puffery that must be avoided.

Unsupported claims (unless they are in the 33 minute radio interview)

  • being a person of interest to the Cowboys and Raiders
  • the motorcycle accident
  • the personal information about his family
  • his alma mater

You have stated on your user page that you do a "LOT" of ghostwriting and recently wrote a press release for a movie director. I don't know if this is another ghost writing project but if it is you must declare any and all interests especially if you are a paid editor. Please read WP:DISCLOSE for more information. Speedy deletion nomination of Marklen Kennedy edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Marklen Kennedy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 03:47, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

The CSD A7 tag is not applicable in this case because there are statements about why the subject is signficant in his career, a lower standard than notability. However, the article could be a candidate for an WP:Article for deletion (AfD) tag - particularly if there are not a number of reliable, secondary sources.–CaroleHenson (talk) 11:36, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Carole. I thought I had removed all of the imbd references. I just went in and tried to take them out and couldn't figure out how to do it. Can you tell me how to remove them or remove them for me? I'm trying to learn, I really am. Thanks

Ways to improve Marklen Kennedy edit

Hi, I'm CaroleHenson. Dottie S Block, thanks for creating Marklen Kennedy!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. IMdB is not a reliable source - there's no editorial control like there is with a newspaper article, book, etc.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Here's a cool tool for finding reliable secondary sources: Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL.–CaroleHenson (talk) 11:32, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
