Speedy deletion of Fresno PAL Triathlon Team

edit

A tag has been placed on Fresno PAL Triathlon Team requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:01, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.

The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'googlepages\.com' (link(s): http://paltriathlon.googlepages.com/triathlonlifearticle.jpg) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image or a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

Proposed deletion of Turning Points Academy

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Turning Points Academy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Educating your students about the internet

edit

It's a good thing to do, but if you're teaching them to use Wikipedia, could you teach them to use it correctly? Individual school programs aren't generally notable; you and your students will want to carefully read the notability criteria before creating new articles. Remember that there are lots of existing articles on Wikipedia that need improvement, too. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:00, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok

I agree - although our program is one of a kind, perhaps truly nationally notable is an overstatement (in terms of outside education circles). I settled instead on having them create a wiki for our school(McLane High School) - those edits from today were actually from my students as I typed in their off-line edits. we don't have computers for everyone. I did read that there is an exception for schools. I'll keep reading and have them read about it all too... quite a few of them got really interested in this and as they all now have Google accounts/email addresses now, will encourage them to add to some of the articles. Many of my students are of mexican or Hmong[1] descent and thus could add to those pages. Dormanmath (talk) 07:53, 10 May 2008 (UTC)dormanmathReply

Articles about a particular high school as a whole are generally considered to be notable. You could have sections about various notable programs and features within that article. Be advised, though, that there are conflict of interest issues to consider.
