Pop Culture Editing Troubles

So, I found passing references on the articles for 'Hell is for Children', 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot', 'The Touch (Stan Bush song)', 'Future Generation', 'Love is a Battlefield' and 'Radio Free Europe (song)'. I removed them because the passing references simply stated that a song appeared in a certain media, not why they're notable. However, an admin named "Materialscientist" reverted all of them just because they were sourced. I'm sure what to do or what to say to the user, since I was only following the guidelines of pop culture sections. Misterspaceman (talk) 21:40, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

I tried reaching out to them, but they disabled their notifications. Misterspaceman (talk) 21:40, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean when you say they "disabled their notifications", but I don't see that you left a message at their Talk page or any of the Talk pages for the articles in question? You might want to check out WP:DR for additional ideas if either of those options doesn't appeal to you. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 02:56, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
"Disabled their notifications" means that they changed a setting so that they don't get pinged when they get a message. I thought it would be difficult to talk to them if they had a low chance of responding that way. I just don't understand how people can get away with things that go against the guidelines, but when I follow the guidelines, I get in trouble. Misterspaceman (talk) 15:06, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
I have to ask...how would you know whether another editor had disabled their notifications? I checked WP:PING and, at a glance, I didn't see any discussion of how one might do that. In any event, if you initiate a discussion and they choose not to respond, then the point is that you made the effort. Other editors may chime in supporting you in any case, and if nobody responds to your concerns within a reasonable amount of time, you're within your rights to go forward with your edit and request that anyone dissenting engage with you. Gogola

I don't think you made a mistake but since it is apparently a lost film could you look into this and add it with better sources? (You are part of the film project unlike me) Braganza (talk) 13:16, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm sorry; I'm not sure what you're asking me to do here? If you're asking me whether I can attempt to track down sources, then I'm afraid I'm not sure when I'll have the bandwidth for that kind of request. As for being part of the film project, anyone can join that project at any time, so my being a part of it isn't especially indicative of anything other than a professed interest in editing film articles. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 13:25, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
i see, thanks anyway Braganza (talk) 13:45, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
If it helps, I did do a quick Google search, though unfortunately nothing jumped out at me...mostly wikis and other non-reliable sources. I note there's no article on the film either, which is concerning in terms of what it may say about the availability of sources. Best wishes if you decide to dig deeper for sources! DonIago (talk) 14:13, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
i found a book which named it alongside other Kaiju movies Braganza (talk) 14:16, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
That could work! DonIago (talk) 15:31, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Hello

I wonder. You reverted my edit on the film Jaws (1975).

I don't get it. I thought Jaws was widely recognized as one of the best films of all time? Am I wrong? Nowy Prywaciarz (talk) 21:44, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

I don't know...but it's not mentioned at the article that you linked to in your edit, so linking to it as a form of evidence didn't make a lot of sense to me. DonIago (talk) 00:47, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Hello Doniago. My recent edits to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954 film) plot summary did not add a significant amount of unnecessary detail. In fact, one edit even shortened the text (electricity on hull). The edits clarified some important relationships, e.g. the messages in the bottle with the attack on the island. Captain Nemo surely can have an own link in the plot. He was shot returning from his base and not going to the base as it says in the original text. And how the Nautilus entered the lagoon is also interesting and a highlight of the film. So, I think my edits were justified and correct and not that excessive. Please consider reinstating them. Alandeus (talk) 08:07, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Your edits expanded the plot summary beyond 700 words, which is a bright-line violation of the guidance at WP:FILMPLOT. If you feel your edits are an improvement, you're welcome to make other edits to the summary in order to keep the word count below 700 words. Alternately, you may start a discussion at the article's Talk page to see whether you can get a consensus to ignore the guideline in this case, though my feeling is that this isn't a film that merits waiving said guideline. As your edits didn't expand the summary tremendously beyond 700 words, I'm also personally willing to try to trim your revised summary back under 700 words, but that may include trimming your edits in the process. I hope this clarifies matters for you. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 13:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
I just trimmed the plot to exactly 700 words as counted by MS Word. I hope it all fits now. Alandeus (talk) 08:37, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
Looks good; thanks for understanding my concerns! DonIago (talk) 15:25, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

3O request re Börringe Priory

The 3O has been provided - if you are still unhappy the way forward is to look to alternative dispute resolution processes. Springnuts (talk) 12:15, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

I have zero idea what this is in reference to. I haven't requested a third opinion. DonIago (talk) 16:02, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

NeoBatfreak's mirco-editing

I got to talk to you, Doniago. It's about NeoBatfreak and his contributions. He's doing more micro-editing in many articles, including the Jurassic World character Maisie Lockwood, as seen in it's page history, despite your and other user's warnings to him. BattleshipMan (talk) 20:19, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

It sounds to me as though either an elevated warning or ANI is the next step. There's nothing technically wrong with what they're doing, but they're making it incredibly difficult to track their overall changes. DonIago (talk) 21:02, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
Maybe. He making things to difficult. Another user name InfiniteNexus also gave NeoBatfreak a warning about it. BattleshipMan (talk) 21:19, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
If people are continuing to warn Neo and it's not resulting in any changes in their behavior then getting admin attention on the matter would seem to be the next step. Even if they decide there's nothing to be done, at least they'll have been made aware of it. DonIago (talk) 02:30, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
I think so. Thanks of your thoughts of this. BattleshipMan (talk) 05:12, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
You're welcome. If this does go to ANI and I don't end up getting tagged in the process (I don't have strong feelings either way on that), then I'd appreciate it if you could link me to the conversation. If it does go to ANI, then while I don't think it should be that challenging to find evidence of their tendency to micro-edit, I hope whoever opens the filing will provide strong evidence, including documentation of them being asked to stop doing it. DonIago (talk) 06:07, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
