Oz edit

I have twice removed posts about the Wizard of Oz which were copy and pasted into two different articles. Please cite sources for this material. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:29, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Source: yipharburg.com Ernie Harburg, Yip’s son, issued a statement about this matter which was reprinted in Robert Mackey’s New York Times blog. Coincidentally, Thatcher died on Yip’s 117th birthday.

Okay... but blogs are not reliable sources for most things (WP:RS) and why is that statement important enough to be encyclopedic and integral to either of the articles you put them in. It was rather crass, rude, out of context and a synthesis trying to bring a correlation between that song's renewed popularity to the death of a world figure. The new Oz movie is perhaps the reason (as noted in other sources) and not the death of Mrs. Thatcher. Such synthesis WP:SYN is why I removed it. I will forgive you for misinterpreting my sincerity as rudeness. I feel that Ernie Harburg's statement was enlightening as to his father's strong influence on the movie version of Baum's book. Please replace it with all references to Baroness Thatcher removed if you are able to. I think that Ernie's quotes from his father on the value of humour are important to all Baum afficionados as well as those who are students of the impact of the movie. I read all of the Oz books as well as the later short stories in preparation for my artwork (an A to Z of Oz) at the CCA Wattis in San Francisco. I am currently working on a project in Paris which is largely based on Yip Harburg's pensive humour. From songs such as 'Brother, Can You spare a Dime' to 'Did I Get Stinkin At The Club Savoy', he spoke for millions of Americans. Long after Baroness Thatcher has been forgotten we will still have the wit and charm of Yip Harburg.Donald Urquhart (talk) 22:09, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise. It is a LONG time since I worked with html and am in Paris with no reference manuals. Please excuse me for not knowing how to message you directly Donald Urquhart

Let me give you the welcome template. It will explain how to do things. Wikipedia is a bit complex at first, but this should help. And its not all HTML. Now secondly, given proper context the material is important, but I would expect it to be at Yip Harburg's page under critical response. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 22:22, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will hopefully make my way through this learning curve. All my very best. Donald Urquhart (talk) 22:29, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
