Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Don poky. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. This is regarding Drishika Chander. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:32, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

== Request for Edit: Drishika Chander Article ==
Hello,
I am Don Poky, and I have a conflict of interest because I have a professional relationship with Drishika Chander. I would like to request the following changes to the article based on reliable sources:
1. **Guinness World Record**: Update the section about the Guinness World Record for "Manasanamaha" to include the following citation:
"The short film Manasanamaha, directed by Deepak Reddy, has achieved significant recognition, including setting a Guinness World Record for the highest number of awards won by a short film. Released in 2020, the film has garnered a total of 513 national and international awards. This notable achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records in May 2022."
Thank you for considering my request.
Best regards,
Don Poky Don poky (talk) 11:52, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
It seems you've misunderstood.
You must disclose your COI by placing the {{User COI}} template on your user page User:Don poky.
You may edit drafts (in the Draft: or User: name spaces) with regard to which you have a COI, but you may not publish them directly, and if/when they are published, you may not edit them directly but must instead make edit requests.
Those edit requests are made via the article's talk page, not via your own talk page (here).
Thank you, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:58, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Initital draft for Mystics Team

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Initital draft for Mystics Team, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hello Don poky. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to User:Don poky/sandbox, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Don poky. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Don poky|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:07, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am not employee or getting paid to create this article. I have disclosed by:
This user has publicly declared that he has a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Drishika Chander.
Thanks Don poky (talk) 12:18, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You did say that you have a "professional" relationship (sorry, I missed that bit earlier, when I told you to use the User COI template), which very much implies some sort of financial gain. You should disclose using the {{paid}} template instead.
Also, just because you've made your disclosure, doesn't give you a carte blanche to use Wikipedia to promote your client. Recreating the same promotional draft only moments after the previous version was deleted is not appropriate, and may get you sanctioned sooner or later (my guess is sooner). You may prepare a draft on your client, but it must be entirely neutral and factual in tone and content, and based on what independent and reliable secondary sources have said, not what you or your client want to tell the world about her. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:36, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for your guidance. Don poky (talk) 12:43, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.

Your draft reads like a fan page. Please have another look at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Deb (talk) 14:11, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
