Speedy deletion nomination of Costume (construction)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Costume (construction) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. • Hi - I was confused as to why you moved your user page live, as the page was blank. Also, I saw that your sandbox was moved live and has been tagged as needing independent, secondary sources to help show notability for the professor, so those should be added. You can use primary sources to back up basic information, but keep in mind that any major claims should be backed up by secondary sources. Take information from primary sources with a grain of salt - most primary sources are going to promote the person they're writing about, especially with things like appearances or talks, as they want to get people to attend the event. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, but it does mean that you will likely see claims that are "puffed up" or otherwise tailored to make the person look as good as possible. This is why secondary sources are so important - they not only show where the person is notable, but also helps verify the claims.
It also needs editing for tone - the article should be written as relatively matter of fact and not have editorializing. For example, there's a section on how to talk to terrorists, but this is not something that is typically seen in Wikipedia articles, but especially not in biographies. The female terrorist section is problematic as well, since it's really more generally about female tourists than what Speckhard has written on the topic. I would remove these two sections and instead write a very general synopsis of her career. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:02, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
